FOOD BASKETS
We give around 200 families food baskets every month. These are very basic food items such as rice, whole beans, pasta, and dried fruit which they can eat or make juice from. These are very basic baskets but we would like to provide more essential food for them such as milk, juice, eggs, plantains, fruit, etc. This is one area we want to expand and provide more for the
families of the children we serve. Each basket is $40 dollars and will provide for the family approximately a month. BREAKFAST
Right now we serve hot breakfast to the families and children that are at the local children’s hospital for an appointment and treatment. We provide the meal for a few hours during Wednesday mornings until all have been served. Our passion and dream would be to be able to provide these meals every morning during the week. Right now we only serve once a week on Wednesdays. We serve about 50 people (including the kids and the families) and each breakfast is approximately $75 a day. We hope and pray that God would speak to those of you reading this and that he would guide you in how you can get involved and help us. RECONSTRUCTION OF HOSTEL
We also provide emergency housing or housing for kids who have just been released from the hospital and are in a delicate state with their health and need a clean place to stay to get better. There they can stay with family if necessary and are provided with meals and a safe and clean environment. The hostel is currently not in usable conditions since the Ruballos family had to relocate due to a severe threat by one of the most dangerous gangs in the world which originates here in El Salvador, the MS-13. They had threatened to kill both of the director’s daughters if they were not paid $600 in just a few days. The note the gang members left said that they knew where and when their daughters went to school and they would hurt them if their request was not met. The current location of the Hostel is on the same land as where the director lives which is in a completely different location than originally so there is much to reconstruct to have a functioning hostel, it is currently not in working conditions. This is a future project and we will post the vision we have for that and what the costs would be. ESPANOL:
Canastas Basicas
Damos unas 200 familias canastas de alimentos todos los meses. Estos son elementos muy básicos como el arroz, los frijoles enteros, pasta y frutos secos que se puede comer o tomar como jugo. Estas son las cestas básicas, pero nos gustaría proporcionar alimentos más esencial para ellos, tales como leche, jugo, huevos, plátanos, fruta, etc Esta es un área que queremos ampliar y dar más a las familias de los niños que servimos. Pueden quedarse con la familia allí si es necesario y se proporcionan con las comidas y un ambiente seguro y limpio. El albergue no está actualmente en condiciones utilizables ya que la familia Ruballos tuvo que trasladarse debido a una grave amenaza por una de las pandillas más peligrosas en el mundo que se origina aquí en El Salvador, la MS13. Ellos habían amenazado con matar a las dos hijas del director, si no se les pagaba $ 600 en tan sólo unos días. La nota de los miembros de la pandilla dejaron dicho en una nota que ellos sabían dónde y cuándo sus hijas fueron a la escuela y que le harían daño si no se cumplía su petición. La ubicación actual del Albergue se encuentra en el mismo terreno donde vive el director, que está en un lugar completamente diferente de lo inicialmente por lo que hay mucho que reconstruir para tener un albergue en funcionamiento, en este momento no está en condiciones de trabajo. Este es un proyecto de futuro y vamos a publicar la visión que tenemos para eso y los costos.
