SPACE Organization

SPACE Organization SPACE is not an acronym but a word as it is. Our entire work resolves around creating spaces for every one to enjoy the fullness of life without any hindrances.
(1)

SPACE (formerly CEFoRD) is a non-governmental and non-profit making youth led organization that was established as a drama group in 2005 with a group of 20 youths. It was initiated to respond to the existing social political and economic challenges facing communities at the time. The organization started with mainly conducting awareness through participatory methods such as Forum theatre plays, Mu

sic and dance, board games etc. Since then SPACE has transformed into a National CSO/NGO registered in the Republic of South Sudan. SPACE is a registered Organisation with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission of Republic of South Sudan. Over the years, SPACE has transformed the traditional role of forum theater to engage in broader community intervention through additional participatory approaches in community engagement in the thematic areas of promoting economic empowerment, emergency responses, conflict resolution and peaceful coexistence, promoting democratic good governance and human rights, creating crosscutting awareness campaigns and advocacy on issues such as corruption, gender based violence, HIV/AIDS. SPACE’s Vision is “Empowered, peaceful, self-sustaining and inclusive communities”

Grateful for the insightful presentations by IOM South Sudan and UNHCR South Sudan during the second "Let's Talk Migration" dialogue organized by SPACE in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Uganda & South Sudan on Tuesday 14/5/2024.

We believe creating such forums for the provision of adequate and accurate information on Migration within the East African region could increase knowledge and understanding on the problem, necessary for fostering peaceful coexistence between emigrant and host communities, the respect for and protection of the rights of emigrants, the sharing of mutual benefits with improved relationships between them while promoting compliance with local immigration laws and policies would be achieved.

With the continuous struggle for the limited economic opportunities moreover with cultural diversity from the people from the East African Community in Juba, will continue to create spaces for meaningful engagement of people and institutions through partnership and collaboration.

"...right now it shouldn't be a question of whether election will happen or not. It should be the question what we should do now in order to support the conduct of a free, fair and peaceful election in December 2024...", Hon. Jada Stanslaus, Chairperson Specialized committee on Peace and Reconciliation in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly during the launching of the Dialogue on Friday 24/11/2023.

The two-day 'High-level Stakeholder Dialogue' on 24th and 25th November 2023 that targeted 50 key actors such as State Hon. Ministers of peace building, Hon. Chairpersons of specialized committees in the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Civil Society Representatives, International Peace Partner Representatives including UNMISS and Nonviolent Peace Force among others, Women Representatives, Youth Representatives, Political party representatives to mention but a few focused on the status of the permanent constitution making process and the general preparations for the December 2024 South Sudan General Elections, considering the slow implementation and the fast approaching deadline to the elapse of the extended roadmap.

While majority of them strongly support that the already set election should happen without further extension, they also acknowledged and recommended that a lot still need to be done by the government, Civil Society Organizations and International Community in terms of improving security, preparing the citizens and funding the election processes respectively, in order to ensure the election is free, fair and peaceful.

Very big thanks to Prof. , for the great moderation.

In a consortium of youth-led, Youth & women-focused CSOs, we will convene a 3-hour "Youth Accountability Talks" activity on the International Youth Day this Saturday 12th August, 2023 in Juba South, under the Theme: "Talking the Facts, Bridging the Gap. Together Shaping Our Actions".

The Global Theme for the International Youth Day this year however is "Green skills for Youth, towards a sustainable world".

Viewed as feedback platform, this event will create the opportunity for direct interface between young politicians (MPs, members of specialized committees, etc who are representing the youth at state and National level) and the youth from across the 10 states and 3 Administrative Areas of South Sudan.

Core discussions will be based on Chapter
1 & Chapter 4 of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan ( - ) with specific focus on Youth & Women participation. How serious have they been in pursuing the youthcourses? What milestones have been registered so far and the critical gaps already identified for joint advocacy.

In the end, we hope to improve coordination between the young parliamentarians and their fellow youth across the country, improve the coordination between the urban and the rural youth through these conversations, geared towards strengthening youth participation in mitigating/responding to intercommunal conflict, climate change mitigation, natural resource management and fair participation in the December 2024 general election in South Sudan.
