We have attended funeral prayers of our Late Mother Akech Athiang Athiang who passed on 8/8/2026 in Aweil Main Hospital. She's the mother of our humble colleague and a brother Jeremiah Jathen Athum.

Late mama Akech Athiang Athiang was laid to rest in Majook Ngor village of Gomjuer West (Chelkou).

Our chairperson (Apin Deng Gol Apin) together with Secretary General (Santino Deng Lual) joined the family in mourning for the great lost.

Keep on resting mother. 🙏🏿

It's with great sorrow and regret to inform you that we have lost our mother, a warrior and heroine (Mama Akech Athiang Athiang) at 5:00pm this evening in Aweil Main Hospital after being in coma for almost two weeks.

She's a mother to our Finance Secretary - Jeremiah Jathen Athum a fifth year student in the faculty of Agriculture - Department of Agronomy - UBG.

We pray that may the Lord almighty comfort the family during this dark hours and strengthen them to find peace.

The Lord has gifted, and the Lord has taken. May your precious soul rest well mother.

Dear Members of the Public, Intellectuals, Business people, Well-wishers, and People of Goodwill,

I write to you with great faith and humility as the Chairperson of Aweil West County Students' Association, University of Bahr El Ghazal.

As university students, we are currently facing numerous challenges. In light of this, we are reaching out to the general public to kindly seek your support. We are fully aware of the economic crisis our country is going through. However, any form of assistance — whether in-kind such as food items and other basic materials, or financial support — will go a long way in helping us achieve our goals.

Our main objectives for this appeal are:
1. Support Vulnerable Students: To assist students who are unable to afford tuition fees, ensuring that no student is left behind or forced to drop out.
2. Educational Campaigns: To conduct educational programs that will strengthen our community with quality knowledge and promote modern ways of living for positive change.
3. Graduation Ceremony: To organize a farewell ceremony for our graduates at the county level, in order to encourage young people to prioritize education and pursue higher learning.
4. Student Welfare: To address life-threatening risks faced by students in the university, including feeding, medication, hygiene, and other basic needs.
5. Girl Child Education: To promote and support girl child education and discourage early marriages. _“When you educate a girl, you educate a nation.”_

NB: No amount is too small to make a difference. Any support rendered will be highly received and acknowledged.

EXECUTIVE ORDER FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AWEIL WEST COUNTY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION IN UNIVERSITY OF BAHR EL GHAZAL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS.

TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT.

The title shall be cited as a chairperson's executive order for the appointment of executive members of Aweil West County Students' Association in University Of Bahr El Ghazal in year 2026.

The order No:(1) of 12th/April/2026 shall come into effect on the date of its signature by the chairperson.

On 12th. April. 2026 the Aweil West County Students' Association-UBG handover the leadership to the general assembly and endorsed the fourth chairperson after:
1. Piol Thiep Piol (2020-2021).
2. Kang Nhial Kang (2021-2022).
3. Tong Kiir Tong (2022-2026).
4. Apin Deng Gol (2026-2027).

This is to inform you that the outgoing leadership of the Aweil West County Student's Association at the University of Bahr El Ghazal, led by Tong Kiir Tong, has officially handed over to the general assembly.

The leadership of Aweil West Student Association at the University of Bahr El Ghazal would like to inform all members of the General Assembly that there will be an official dissolution and handover ceremony tomorrow morning at the Public Health premises.

The current leadership, led by the humble Chairperson Tong Kiir Tong, well known as Putin, will conclude its service after successfully completing two terms in leadership.

The trust that was given to him by the General Assembly will officially come to an end tomorrow. During his leadership, Tong Kiir Tong played an important role in guiding the association through two terms from 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, and concluding in the 2025–2026 academic period.

Therefore, all members of the General Assembly are kindly invited to attend the meeting tomorrow morning to witness the official handover of leadership to the newly elected Chairperson of Aweil West Student Association at the University of Bahr El Ghazal.

RESPONSE FROM AWEIL WEST STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

It is with great honor and pleasure that we acknowledge the Electoral Committee of the Aweil Student Association at the University of Bahr El Ghazal for taking the important initiative of inviting Aweil West Student Association to rejoin the main association.

Last year, Aweil West Student Association withdrew from the association due to concerns related to hate speech and the inability of the leadership at that time to take appropriate steps to unite students and lead them with generosity, kindness, and a spirit of self-determination.

However, yesterday the Electoral Committee officially wrote to Aweil West Student Association requesting that we rejoin the association in the spirit of unity, peace, harmony, and forgiveness among students.

Therefore, Aweil West Student Association, under the leadership of Chairperson Kiir Tong, has accepted the request of the Electoral Committee and agreed to rejoin the association without delay for the sake of unity and cooperation among all Aweil students at the University of Bahr El Ghazal.

We appreciate this initiative and look forward to working together in the spirit of unity, peace, and mutual respect.

As we prepare for unity and togetherness of our beloved state, we have learnt that there are still some few individuals within your assembly that are splitting hate speech against us (Aweil West).

Earlier this morning Dr. Dut Kiir Deng posted about union of Aweil Students' Association in University Of Bahr El Ghazal but there was horrific, toxic and defamatory comment made by one of our sister named "Agul Rose" in which we'll not display her comment online for the sake of our dignity as Aweil and for her own good.

As the students of Aweil West in University Of Bahr El Ghazal we condemn such act against our community, we must be respected unconditional.

As per now, we're demanding for an official apology not from Aweil East but from one particular wrong doer with period not exceeding twenty four hours (24hrs) from the immediate effect of this letter.
