The International Week for Deaf People (IWDP) is a time to celebrate and raise awareness about the deaf community. This week-long event runs from 17th -25th September with the theme “A World Where Deaf People Everywhere Can Sign Anywhere”. Also providing an opportunity for people all over the world to come together and learn about deaf culture, sign language, and the experiences of deaf individuals.
As we begin this year’s IWDP, we mark an important day for deaf children worldwide as we celebrate the Declaration on the Rights of Deaf Children. This declaration recognizes the unique needs and rights of deaf children and promotes equal access to education, language, and social opportunities. We call on everyone to join us in signing the Declaration and promoting awareness about the rights of deaf children.
South Sudan National Deaf Children & Youth (SSNDCY) is holding an official Launching Event in the community and other activities such as Mobilization of deaf people join the organization as members, Radio Talk Show, Community Clean Up Activity, Presentation on GBV and SRHR, Sharing the experiences through Dialogue by Deaf youth, and Online Campaign.
By raising awareness and promoting understanding of deaf culture and experiences, we can work towards creating a more inclusive and accessible society for all. Let's work together towards achieving this goal.

South Sudan National Deaf Children & Youth participated in a team building trip to Terekeka together with other OPDs in Juba. The trip was a major success with a myriad lessons learnt chief among which were;
1. Members learnt how to communicate messages coherently during project implementation.
2. Members also learnt how Communication should flow in an organization set up.
3. Furthermore, members understood the importance of a team in doing work fast, easily and to the required standard unlike individual work.

Today a lot of youth with hearing impairment are struggling with depression, anxiety, and other mental health problems caused by rejections in families, work places, broken relationships and not receiving the support they need, especially in rural areas, either because services are not available or because of the taboo that often surrounds mental health needs prevent people to access care. Thank God to YGlobal KFUK-KFUM Global Atlas-alliansen under the ToFI project for training youth with disabilities on Mental health, Psychosocial Support counselling to be able to engage the youth into peer to peer counselling to reduce the rate of youth joining drug abuse and gang groups due to bottled bitter emotions.

South Sudan National Deaf children and Youth in partnership with UNFPA South Sudan, Consultants from This-Ability and Ministry of Gender,Child & Socail Welfare RSSMinistry of Gender,Child & Socail Welfare carried out a 2 day validation meeting for the inception report on building the Rajaf School for persons with Disabilities. The meeting was graced by various under secretaries from different ministries as well as representatives of different international and national NGOs led by the UNFPA country director. The meeting was a huge success.
