"THE WELCOME CEREMONY FOR THE NEWLY APPOINTED WARRAP COORDINATOR"

On the 13th of August 2026, reflect on the welcoming ceremony for a newly appointed Cde Akoon Madut Akech as Warrap’s coordinator in Juba. This is best exemplified by an official inauguration, an induction event, or a formal orientation assembly.

These events feature key traditions like an introduction speech, a symbolic handover of office, and a welcoming address by senior intellectuals and community members.

“The first source, the executive director in the office of the governor, Col Agoth Mabior Wek, attended the orientation assembly of the newly appointed chief coordinator of Warrap State.

He urged the newly appointed and the people of Warrap State that we need to embrace peace and unity among our community of Warrap State, especially in greater Tonj.

Mabior added that the Warrap State problems will be solved by a Warrap solution, meaning that the problems of Warrap State would be solved by the people of Warrap State. However, he concluded by appreciating the attendance of youth, community, and elders.

“The second source, former chief coordinator Cde Deng Papdit, has distinguished guests, colleagues, and friends. Said, it is my absolute honor to welcome you today for the welcome ceremony of our newly appointed coordinator. I am ready to formally hand over the responsibilities of this vital office to my esteemed successor, Cde Akoon Madut Akech.

Papdit told the public that my sincere thanks go first to the former governor of Warrap State, Lt Gen. Francis Marial Abur, and former governor Lt Gen. Magok Magok, and final deep appreciation to the current governor, Honorable Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, for the long period I spent working with him in the Warrap coordination office.

He said I should be an example, handing over this office successfully more than previous coordinators, and I hope my brother Akoon would do the same when he was relieved.

Papdit was concluded by saying, "I congratulate you once again on your appointment. I wish you wisdom, strength, and great success in leading this coordination office forward. Please be assured that my support remains available to you at any time you need me; I should be ready.

“An effective speech of incoming Chief Coordinator Cde Akoon Madut” should be warm, concise, and community-focused, and for the last two to three minutes; he should establish a tone of collaboration, express clear gratitude, and outline a shared vision for the Warrap community and his office subordinates.

He was saying, I am deeply honored and humbled to stand before you this morning. I wanted to thank first the governor of Warrap State, Hon Amb Bol Wek Agoth, for trusting and appointing me as Warrap’s coordinator in Juba. Madut continued, saying, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who organized this wonderful reception and to each of you for taking the time to be here. Your presence means a great deal to me, and it shows the strong spirit of unity we share in this community.

As I step into this role, my commitment is simple: an open door, honest communication, and a focus on real progress that benefits every single family here. We face important tasks ahead, but I know that by listening to one another and working side by side, we can achieve great things and leave a legacy in the Warrap Coordination Office.

Chief Akoon Madut concluded his speech by appreciating the attendance, urge to make themselves comfortable, enjoy the afternoon, and let us begin this journey together, and thanking them.

“HOW HAS THE SOUTH SUDAN GOVERNMENT RESPONDED TO CLAIMS BY SOME INDIVIDUALS THAT JUBA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLOSURE OF THE CANADIAN EMBASSY”

BY PETER WEK AYOM WEK

My dear government’s enemies, the facts doesn’t lost as false, the Canada did not close its embassy due to a specific political deal or bilateral agreement. Global Affairs Canada temporarily suspended operations at its embassy in Juba as part of a periodic review of its diplomatic footprint, citing general factors like operational costs, security conditions, and foreign policy priorities.

As I responded on behalf of the South Sudan government, the Canadian government stated that the suspension of the physical embassy office does not change its commitment to humanitarian aid and international assistance in South Sudan.

Remember, when Canada established diplomatic relations with the Republic of South Sudan following the country’s independence on July 9, 2011, and they have opened a bilateral office in the same year in Juba. In September 2014, Canada announced the establishment of a diplomatic mission in Juba and appointed its first resident Ambassador in January 2015 to South Sudan.

South Sudan had a 15-year, tied bilateral relationship with the Canadian government to enhance support for regional and international mediation efforts towards a peaceful and sustainable resolution of conflict in South Sudan.

The South Sudan government’s relationship with foreign countries made Canada work hard to support peace and development in South Sudan, and established under the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).

I think the South Sudanese government should not forget Canada’s initiatives and international assistance to the people of South Sudan since the country gained independence in 2011. The Canadians government donated $1.1 billion in international assistance to South Sudan for the country’s development, humanitarian, peace, and security

Bilaterally, Canada is leading in South Sudan rather than other countries. Globally, the aid health sector focuses on improving basic health services, including sexual and reproductive health services, training health workers, and promoting the rights of women and girls. Canada is also supporting food security and agricultural development initiatives, improving girls’ education and learning outcomes, and the area of inclusive governance, with a particular focus on women and girls.

Before Canada left the Juba embassy, the South Sudanese government had talked with them, but they explained the same global conditions that affect international. Also, the Canadian urge the government to continue with peaceful coexistence for a general election in December 2026.

The Canadians also highlight that the South Sudanese government has had peaceful coexistence more than other countries in the Worldwide; they treat foreign people as their citizens. All the Global knows that there is a free market and movement in South Sudan, and that’s why foreigners overcontrolled the market more than local people, because it’s freedom that South Sudanese gave them- a free market, where every trader sells his/her goods in his own price.

“Why do the Nuer not have a Centralized “Council of Elders?”

The Nuer traditionally lack a centralized council of elders or formal chiefs because their society is a cephalous (meaning "without a head"); that’s why Dr. Riek repeated what he did in 1991, 2013, and 2016. Their emotions do not match the rule of law to respect each other or human rights.

Supporters like AU, IGAD, and UN are never known for a Nuer background; they are supposed to search first before interfering in South Sudan's affairs.

The Nuer cultural values strongly reject the idea of one person ruling over another. No individual, regardless of family birth or cattle wealth.

The former governor of Warrap State, Hon Mama Nyandeng Malek, wasn't reappointed to the national government since she was relieved from the governorship in Warrap. Her best role played in Warrap remains unchanged in the memory of Warrap's citizens

Hon Mama Nyandeng was elected as the governor of Warrap State in 2010 during the time of the Sudan General Election; that means the Referendum. She served as governor from 2010 to 2015, making her longest serving in the state's history.

Her five-year tenure remains unmatched in Warrap for now, where no other governor has held office for long since the state has experienced communal conflict.
