Just wrapped up at the UNOCHA Main Hall 🤝
The Rev Hon Mathiang Deang Foundation [MDF] team attended today’s Nutrition Cluster meeting where partners came together to review progress and align on next steps for communities across Northern Bahr el Ghazal and beyond.
Key updates shared:
1. 11+1 County Nutrition Scale-Up Response Plan [NCCT] – Progress on reaching vulnerable counties with lifesaving nutrition interventions and gaps we still need to close.
2. SMART Survey Updates for the 11+1 Priority NTIWG – Latest data on malnutrition trends to guide targeted response and resource allocation.
3. MIYCN Strategy Partner Orientation [MPTWG] – Strengthening how we support Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition at household and facility level.
For MDF, what matters next is turning these plans into action on the ground:
- We welcome the UNICEF preparedness plan for Ebola, especially the guidance for protecting breastfeeding mothers and infants during outbreaks.
- We support the Ministry of Health’s Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative and will work to expand it in facilities we support.
- We’re ready to roll out targeted awareness training for doctors, nurses, Boma Health Workers, and father-to-father support groups so that correct nutrition and infant feeding practices reach every household.
As an active member of the FSL, Nutrition, and Health clusters, MDF is committed to linking policy, data, and community action so that no mother or child is left behind.
Grateful to UNOCHA and the Nutrition Cluster partners for the coordination and space to collaborate.
