Strengthening Community-Based Psychosocial Support in Raja County.

On August 21, 2026, TukulAfrica ’s Raja Field Office hosted a productive meeting with 30 Psychosocial Support Community-Based Volunteer (PCV) Counselors in preparation for their deployment.

The gathering aimed to create a clear and coordinated work plan that will guide the upcoming counseling sessions, ensuring that community members receive effective psychosocial support.

With the help of trained community-based volunteers, TukulAfrica is dedicated to bolstering locally led support systems and enhancing the wellbeing and resilience of communities in Raja County.

Promoting economic recovery and community resilience through Cash-for-Work activities in Raja County 🌱

Tukul Africa is implementing ongoing Cash-for-Work activities in Raja County as part of efforts to support vulnerable households, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to community recovery following the impacts of displacement and conflict.

Through this initiative, displaced persons, returnees, refugees, and host community members are engaged in meaningful community-based works that address priority needs while providing temporary income opportunities to support household resilience and economic recovery.

The Cash-for-Work activities are contributing to the rehabilitation and improvement of essential community infrastructure, while promoting inclusion, collaboration, and social cohesion among different population groups.

Beyond immediate income support, the intervention provides an opportunity for communities to actively participate in rebuilding their environment, restoring dignity, and strengthening pathways towards sustainable reintegration.

Tukul Africa remains committed to working alongside communities, local authorities, and partners to ensure that recovery efforts create lasting impact and support resilient communities.

Strengthening community resilience through trauma awareness and Psychological First Aid (PFA) in Raja County 💙

TukulAfrica with much appreciated support of UNDP South Sudan conducted a workshop for local leaders in Raja County on trauma awareness and Psychological First Aid (PFA), strengthening their capacity to better understand the impact of conflict, displacement, and distress on individuals and communities.

The workshop equipped local leaders with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognize signs of trauma, provide compassionate first-line support, promote safe and supportive community environments, and strengthen referral pathways for individuals requiring additional psychosocial assistance.

As key influencers and trusted actors within their communities, local leaders play an important role in promoting healing, rebuilding social connections, reducing stigma around mental health and psychosocial challenges, and supporting peaceful coexistence among displaced and host communities.

Tukul Africa will continue working with community structures and local stakeholders to strengthen community-based support systems that promote healing, resilience, and sustainable recovery.

Strengthening local enterprises through market-driven skills and value chain development in Raja County 🌱

TukulAfrica with support from UNDP South Sudan South Sudan, has conducted a capacity-building training for members of producer cooperatives in Raja County on market-driven skills, value chain development, and strengthening local economic opportunities.

The training equipped cooperative members with knowledge and practical skills to better understand market demands, improve production planning, enhance product quality, identify value addition opportunities, and strengthen linkages across their respective value chains.

Through this initiative, cooperatives are being supported to transition from subsistence-level production towards more sustainable and market-oriented enterprises that contribute to household resilience, economic recovery, and community reintegration.

Tukul Africa will continue providing ongoing support to these cooperatives through business coaching, mentorship, linkages to markets, and follow-up technical assistance to help them strengthen their operations, improve productivity, and achieve sustainable growth.

Strengthening community healing and resilience through Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in Raja County.
As part of TukulAfrica’s commitment to supporting durable solutions and community recovery in Raja County, together with support of UNDP South Sudan , conducted a capacity-building training for Psychosocial Community Volunteers (PCVs) under the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) pathway.

The training equipped community-based volunteers with practical skills in psychological first aid, basic psychosocial support, trauma-informed approaches, active listening, safe identification of individuals requiring additional support, and referral pathways for specialized services.

Recognizing that recovery goes beyond physical reconstruction and economic recovery, MHPSS plays a critical role in helping individuals and communities affected by conflict and displacement rebuild trust, strengthen resilience, restore social connections, and promote emotional wellbeing.

The trained PCVs will serve as a bridge between communities and available support services, providing safe spaces for healing and contributing to stronger, more inclusive, and resilient communities.

Together, we continue to advance pathways for healing, reintegration, social cohesion, and sustainable recovery in Raja County.

Strengthening the Legal Foundations for Women's Empowerment in South Sudan
Tukul Africa participated in a stakeholder workshop on the Advocacy and sensitization on Gender Equality Bills to advance women’s leadership and Political participation in South Sudan.
The workshop provided an important platform for dialogue on strengthening the legal and institutional frameworks that advance women's economic empowerment, leadership, equal opportunities, and gender equality in South Sudan.
As an organization committed to promoting inclusive development, women's leadership, and sustainable livelihoods, we value opportunities to contribute to policy discussions that shape a more equitable future. We look forward to supporting efforts that translate these legislative commitments into meaningful change for women and girls across the country.
