It is a transformation of Southern Sudan Civil Society Referendum Task force which occurred as a result of a convention organized at Nyakoren Cultural centre which was attended by more than 200 civil society and faith based organization on 26-29 June, 2011. The convention was attended by the representatives of civil society, faith based organizations from the ten states of the Republic of South Su
dan as well as representatives from the Abyei area. The aim of that convention was to form a strong and vibrant civil society which could influence socio-economic and political aspects. The Alliance advocates for civil, economic and political rights for the people of South Sudan. As per the earlier convention the 46 National council members were nominated among which the chairperson of South Sudan Civil Society Mr. Deng Athuai Mawiir was elected to head consortium which adopted the name of South Sudan civil society Alliance after the vote for the following choices: 1.
