South Sudan Veterans Association is founded to honor the characters who scarified their individual aspirations, needs and desires and instead decided to participate in the independence wars on behalf of the entire nation of South Sudan. The Heroes who befell wounded during their hardships – the ‘Wounded Heroes’ are central to our efforts. SSVA recognize that this group experience grave complicatio
ns and barriers in their efforts of returning and leading civil life. It is essential for SSVA that Wounded Heroes and Heroins have the opportunity to return to a civil life of dignity. In SSVA we believe ‘once a Hero – always a Hero’. We acknowledge that Veteran-commitment and dedication come with a price, a price that is paid only by the Veteran. It is therefore important that the Veteran feels respect and admiration for his hardship – also after the uniform is put to rest. Therefore, SSVA wants to assist the communities of South Sudan in providing the necessary means for the Heros to resume to a life where s/he feels embraced, honored and respected, and can live accordingly. In other words, it is the vision of SSVA that every Veteran of South Sudan is able to lead a life of dignity and self-respect.
