Introducing: Grass-root Integrated for Development(GRIND)
Introduction:
Since time immemorial, South Sudan has suffered more than four decades of wars and civil strife. South Sudanese have witnessed very devastating situations and life deteriorating aspects informs of loss of human lives’ and personal properties. This situation has seriously reduced thousands lives to destitution and disabled many victims in various ways rendering them vulnerable to access to better livelihoods.
The long war also destroyed all basic infrastructures especially in the South of the Country. On 9th January 2005 both the Sudanese government and the Southern SPLM/A started a peace talks, which led to the signing of a Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) ushering in era of hope, peace & development.
As a jump-start of the peace talks, communities started to establish village to Boma based initiative groups to prepare for reconstruction and development works. In 2011 southerners voted for separation from the Northerners that pave away for total independence. However, war erupted in 2013 which displaced thousands of people out of the country hence to crises and looming of hunger country wide.It was at this premise that we, the inhabitants of South Sudan decided to establish Grass-root Integrated Network for Development (GRIND). This attracted more initiated partnerships with the Local Authorities, local CBOs, and international organizations in order to implement various interventions across States and beyond.
