For too long, silence has allowed abusers to thrive online. Today, on the , we call on everyone to BE A DIGITAL ALLY.

Don't be a silent witness to digital violence.

Your actions online can make a huge difference in creating safer spaces for women and girls.

Here are 3 WAYS YOU CAN BE AN EFFECTIVE DIGITAL ALLY

1. 📢 See harmful comments, threats, or non-consensual content? Use the platform's reporting tools immediately. Your report matters.
2. ❤️‍🩹 Offer empathy and resources to survivors. Listen without judgment. Never blame the victim for online abuse.
3. 💬 Speak up against misogyny, hate speech, and gender stereotypes in your online groups and conversations. Your voice can shift the culture.

As November 25th, marks the start of the
16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

We at Junub Open Space - JOS are focusing on this year's crucial theme: UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls.

🛑 DIGITAL VIOLENCE IS REAL VIOLENCE.

The abuse happening on your phone, in your DMs, or in the comments section is NOT "just online." It is a calculated violation of human rights designed to silence, shame, and control women and girls in our community.

You might be asking What is Digital Violence?

It is any act of gender-based violence committed, assisted, or aggravated by technology. This includes:

Cyberbullying and constant trolling.

Threats and doxxing (sharing private information).

Non-consensual sharing of images.

The harm is real. The fear is real. The impact on education, business, and mental health is real.

Take the pledge to stop minimizing digital abuse. Call it out when you see it, and commit to being part of the solution.

In South Sudan, peace is not a luxury it is a necessity. The challenges we face today remind us that the foundation of lasting peace begins at home.

That’s what Salaam Fi Bet (Peace at Home) is all about. When we teach our children peace, we give them the tools to break cycles of violence, to resolve conflict without harm, and to imagine a better future for all of us.

We are delighted to announce that Imoya, our Coordinator, participated in the FGM Bill Country Consultations and Civil Society Engagement Training took place from 8–11 September 2025 in Arusha, Tanzania.

This important program, convened by MenEngage Alliance (MEA) in partnership with civil society leaders and the EALA FGM Bill technical team, is equipping participants with the tools and strategies to meaningfully engage in the legislative process.

Through her participation, Vicky is representing South Sudan and contributing to ensuring that community voices, survivors’ experiences, and grassroots perspectives are at the heart of the East African Legislative Assembly Bill on the elimination of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

Together with MEA and our partners, we reaffirm our commitment to ending FGM across the region. 💜
