Ladies and gentlemen,
Fellow South Sudanese,

Today we celebrate our independence—a day that reminds us of our strength, our resilience, and our hope. We honor those who sacrificed for our freedom, and we look ahead with one clear goal: building a better South Sudan together.

Peace is the foundation of that future. True peace is not just silence after war—it is unity, respect, and opportunity for every citizen. It starts with how we treat each other in our homes, our communities, and our nation.

Together, we can create positive change. When we support one another, when we choose dialogue over division, and when we lift up women, youth, and every voice—we move our country forward.

On this special day, I extend heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Mama Ayendit for their continued leadership. We also salute the brave men and women of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), and honor the historic role of the SPLM/SPLA in bringing us to this moment of freedom and nationhood.

Let us stand united, not just as tribes or regions, but as one people, one nation, with one dream: a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan.

The Bhar El Ghazal Women for Peace and Development Initiative in Cairo - Egypt, under the leadership of Deputy Chairperson, Mary Dal, alongside Hellena Deng and a dedicated team, recently had the honor of meeting with the South Sudanese Ambassador to Egypt, Amb. Kuol Nyok Kuol. This meeting marks a step in fostering collaboration and dialogue on pressing issues facing South Sudanese women and communities.

The delegates engaged in meaningful discussions centered around critical topics such as peace, gender equality, education, and humanitarian efforts. These issues are not only important for the development of South Sudan but also for the empowerment of its women, who play a role in rebuilding and nurturing their communities.

The Bhar El Ghazal Women for Peace and Development Initiative is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes dialogue and collaboration among various stakeholders. By addressing key challenges and establishing connections with influential leaders like Ambassador Kuol, the initiative aims to enhance its impact and reach within South Sudan.

The discussions highlighted the importance of gender equality and education as cornerstones for sustainable development.
