🚨 The Strain on South Sudan's Economy & The Need for Transparency 🚨

As South Sudanese citizens continue to feel the pinch of rising prices of essential goods, it's clear: economic transparency is more crucial than ever.

Transparency in revenue collection and management can ensure that resources are being used effectively to address the economic challenges we face. With clear accountability, the government can direct funds toward subsidies or price controls on essentials like food and fuel, helping to ease the burden on everyday South Sudanese.

We all deserve to see our resources working for us. It's time for accountability in revenue management to secure a better future for South Sudan. šŸ’ŖšŸ’”

We are excited to participate in the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) Partners' Annual Review Meeting, happening from November 27-28, 2024, at the Imperial Plaza Hotel in Juba. Under the theme ā€œPartnership for Solidarity in Action in South Sudan,ā€ the meeting offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on and share experiences, including successes, challenges, lessons learned in 2024, and plans for 2025.
During the event, we presented our 2024 WAGIF Project activities alongside 32 other partners from various sectors, including media rights, youth rights, land and resource rights, and women’s rights. NPA’s Country Director praised the remarkable impact of national actors in South Sudan, despite the challenges of a shrinking funding landscape. He announced an increase of 30% to 60% in funding for local and national partners starting in 2025. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration through consortiums to enhance learning, solidarity, and synergy, as well as fostering stronger partnerships with the government.
This annual reflection meeting highlights the strength of partnerships in advancing sustainable change and collective progress in South Sudan.

🚨 Leadership Turmoil: Lessons from Sudan’s NCP for South Sudan

Sudan’s dissolved National Congress Party (NCP) faces a leadership crisis after the secretive election of Ahmed Harun, an ICC fugitive, as its leader. This process's lack of transparency and accountability has deepened divisions within the party and weakened its domestic and international standing.

šŸŒ For South Sudan, this is a stark reminder of the importance of:
āœ… Open and inclusive decision-making processes
āœ… Accountability to ensure leadership legitimacy

Let’s work toward governance that builds trust and stability! What’s your take on this? Share your thoughts below! šŸ‘‡

šŸ“° Leadership Changes Amid Economic Challenges in South Sudan šŸ“°

President Salva Kiir has made a significant change in the South Sudan Revenue Authority, appointing Taban Abel Aguek as the new Deputy Commissioner General. As South Sudan faces skyrocketing prices and currency devaluation, there is a growing need for transparency in how the country manages revenue.

šŸŒ Why Transparency Matters:

1. Build trust in financial institutions.
2. Helps stabilize the economy.
3. Ensures fair allocation of resources.

With oil revenues impacted by regional conflicts, South Sudan must strengthen its non-oil revenue streams and ensure accountability in public offices.

What do you think these leadership changes mean for South Sudan's future?
