This 43rd Anniversary of SPLA Day is a reminder of courage and sacrifice. Let’s ensure that legacy is peace, not war. Let’s unite to end child recruitment and build a peaceful South Sudan.

True liberation means protecting the next generation, promoting freedom of expression, respecting the media, and those who tell our stories.

When the crowd holds cameras, they hold power. Each image is a spark of truth that censorship cannot extinguish.

Therefore, storytelling is part and parcel of civic participation and freedom of expression. The freedom to express oneself belongs to everyone.

When Media uncover invisible contracts, they shine a light on the shadows where corruption hides.

Every exposé of corruption is more than a headline; it’s a step toward fair competition, honest governance, and economic growth that benefits everyone.

Secret deals and Invisible contracts drain the nation and damage prosperity, but a clean system attracts investment, jobs, and hope.

So, by exposing the invisible deals, the media restores confidence in institutions and helps maintain the country's economic stability.

In a divided world, neutrality is the journalist’s greatest tool. It keeps the public informed, not misled.

The Media stands as a compass point to truth, not sides. This way, it can be able to bridge between facts and trust.

So, when media professionals remain neutral, democracy breathes freely, bias suffocates, and balance liberates.

"Our Media landscape currently is characterized by a lot of challenges. In terms of media violation, the most media violation is the issue of harassment of Journalists. It's common in Juba and more common in the States where we have community radio stations.

Most of those community radios are established by the communities and they have their own Editorial policy but you find that the Authority put a lot of pressure on those Radio stations in terms of what they should broadcast, who they should interview and what kind of Headlines they should have."

Message from our Director, Ayaa Irene, on World Press Freedom Day:

"As South Sudan plans for the general election at the end of this year, I would like to share this view that election integrity depends on freedom of expression.

For an election to be considered free, fair, and credible, journalists must be protected, media must have unimpeded access to information, and all citizens must be free to discuss, debate, and engage without fear of intimidation.

We need a conducive environment that promotes freedom of expression and supports press freedom." Ayaa Irene, Director - AMDISS
