YAMORA COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION (YAMORA NNGO)
OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF CONDOLENCE
Yamora Community Organization expresses its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences following the tragic aircraft crash that occurred on 27th April 2026 near Juba, involving a Cessna 208 Caravan operated by CityLink Aviation.
According to official reports, the aircraft, which departed from Yei en route to Juba, tragically crashed approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the capital, claiming the lives of all those on board — including passengers and the pilot.
We are deeply grieved by this devastating loss. Among the departed are individuals who were not only citizens but powerful contributors to nation-building, many of whom we have worked with closely in advancing community transformation and development across Yei River County. Their commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities will never be forgotten.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
As Yamora Community Organization, we join all families, friends, and communities in mourning. This loss is not only for Yei River County, but for the entire nation. We extend our sympathy to all affected counties and especially acknowledge the loss of Captain Francis, the Kenyan pilot, and all other victims. May the Almighty God grant eternal rest to their souls.
We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families during this painful time. We particularly remember the children and dependents left behind—those now without parents—and pray that God grants them strength, comfort, and protection.
Call to Action
In humility, we call upon:
The Government of Central Equatoria State and Yei River County authorities to continue supporting the affected families, including facilitating the dignified transportation of the bodies to their respective homes as per family wishes.
The authorities of Yei River County to allow a week of mourning in honor of these fallen sons and daughters of the community.
Religious institutions, including the Muslim and Christian communities in Yei, to collaborate in organizing a memorial prayer service for all the departed souls.
The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, noting that this is not the first aviation tragedy of its kind in the country.
The Ministry of Roads and Bridges of Central Equatoria State to urgently intensify efforts toward the rehabilitation and completion of the critical road corridors:
Juba – Lainya Road
Lainya – Yei Road
Yei – Kaya Road
These roads remain vital lifelines for the people. Improving their condition and strengthening security along these routes is essential to ensure safe movement, reduce reliance on air transport, and protect lives.
The management of CityLink Aviation to remain strong during this difficult time and seek divine guidance as they continue serving the people.
We further call upon all organizations, churches, the business community, and the general public to stand together in unity and compassion—supporting the families and honoring the lives lost.
Together, let us mourn. Together, let us stand.
Mourning with you.
