The Center for Women Health and Development (CWHD), founded in 2021 by dynamic healthcare professionals, is a registered community-based organization in South Sudan committed to 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 (𝐌𝐍𝐂𝐇) 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝-𝐭𝐨-𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, CWHD works to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, promote safe motherhood, and ensure access to skilled health workers and well-equipped healthcare facilities. Despite operating without external donor funding, the organization remains steadfast in its humanitarian mission. Recently, CWHD mobilized its limited resources and health team to respond to the cholera outbreak in Gogrial West County, collaborating with local healthcare workers, authorities, and partners to provide lifesaving support.

On May 2, 2025, the Center for Women Health and Development (CWHD), in collaboration with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, conducted a critical emergency response mission to Gogrial West County, Warrap State, following a cholera outbreak in the region. Operating under the theme “United for Cholera-Free Gogrial”, this initiative aimed to support ongoing public health efforts to control and eliminate the outbreak.
𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞
In response to the pressing need for medical support, CWHD partnered with a skilled team of healthcare professionals to deliver vital medical supplies to Gogrial Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC). These supplies are intended to enhance cholera case management, reduce transmission, and strengthen the local health system's capacity to respond effectively.
The intervention was a collaborative effort, uniting public health actors around a shared goal: to protect lives and prevent the further spread of cholera in Gogrial West and surrounding areas.
Delivery and Stakeholder Engagement
CWHD and its health partners delivered essential medical commodities including:
• Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS)
• IV fluids
• IV canulars
• Examination loves
The supplies were officially received in a joint event that included key county stakeholders:
• Representatives from the Office of the County Commissioner
• Ministry of Health (MOH) officials
• County Health Department (CHD) officers
• Gogrial PHCC in-charge
• Cholera response focal person
• Health care workers serving on the frontlines
Dr. Wol, the County Cholera Focal Person, extended his deep appreciation for the support provided by both CWHD and the healthcare professionals' team. He noted that although the number of cholera cases has started to subside, the support remains crucial in strengthening preparedness and response efforts.
Planned Distribution of Supplies
Dr. Wol also announced that the received supplies would not only benefit Gogrial PHCC but would be systematically disseminated to other cholera treatment centers (CTCs) within the county. This equitable distribution will ensure that all affected areas are better equipped to handle cases and continue the fight against the disease.

The impact of this health crisis is both tragic and widespread, calling for immediate and unified action to prevent further loss of life. As part of the Health and emergency response efforts, the CENTER FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (CWHD), together with healthcare professionals from Mayen Abun MSF-CH, will deliver critical medical supplies to Gogrial Primary Healthcare Center (PHCC) on 2 May 2025. These contributions represent their unwavering commitment to combating this outbreak and supporting affected communities.
