The Center for Inclusive Governance, Peace and Justice (CIGPJ), with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), and Legal Action Worldwide (LAW), is conducting a three-day capacity-building training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) for judicial actors in Juba.
Taking place from 8th –10th September 2026 at Yam Hotel, the training brings together judges, magistrates, court clerks, registrars, and case managers from national and state levels. It responds to the urgent need to strengthen access to justice for survivors of GBV and CRSV in South Sudan, where conflict, displacement, insecurity, and persistent gender inequalities continue to expose women, girls, and other vulnerable groups to serious forms of violence.
The training strengthens participants’ knowledge, skills, and practical capacity to address GBV and CRSV cases through survivor-centred and trauma-informed approaches. Key sessions cover:
- Legal and policy frameworks on GBV and CRSV
- Judicial ethics and the protection of survivors’ rights
- Case management, evidence handling, and documentation
- Proper case filing, record management, and referral pathways
- Sensitive and respectful communication with survivors
- Measures to improve survivors’ access to justice
Through expert presentations, group discussions, practical case studies, and experience sharing, participants will build the competence needed to handle GBV and CRSV cases with sensitivity, professionalism, and accountability.
CIGPJ appreciates the support of SDC, NPA, and Legal Action Worldwide in advancing a justice system that protects the rights, dignity, safety, and access to justice of survivors across South Sudan.
