Celebrating Impact and Growth 💥

SAADO marked an important milestone as we celebrated the successful completion of the AMVAT project Terekeka. With support from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) the Government, this moment brought together community leaders, partners, and local authorities to appreciate the collective effort that made this achievement possible.

A key highlight of the day was the official handover of the Aggregated Business Centeres (ABCs) to the cooperatives. This marks the beginning of , and , which has always been at the heart of the project design. The community now steps forward with strengthened capacity and the right tools to continue building resilience, improving livelihoods, and shaping their development path with confidence.

We extend appreciation to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government for their partnership, and to the community for their commitment from the very first day.

Collaboration and Donor Engagement.🤝

SAADO joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) team for a joint visit under the GRACE project in Terekeka County.

The visit gave our partners a clear view of the progress communities are making through , and improved .

The team walked through key activity sites and community discussions with farmers who are already applying new techniques to strengthen food security.

Through this engagement the partners heard directly from producer groups, women, youth and local leaders about how the project is shaping livelihoods in real time.

We appreciate the collaboration and continued trust from UNFAO-South Sudan, their support allows us to scale what works, address gaps faster and stand with communities as they adapt to a changing climate.

We remain committed to accountability, transparency and meaningful partnership that reflects the needs and priorities of the people we serve.

International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste

🌍🍚 Food Loss matter now more than ever

Did You Know❓

‼️In South Sudan, post-harvest monitoring found that up to 49% of cereal yields were lost in a single season due to floods, pests, and poor storage.

‼️This is happening while more than 7 million people face acute hunger.

Reducing food loss means protecting harvests, strengthening food security, and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Every grain saved counts.

✊ On this International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, let’s commit to building resilient and sustainable food systems.

🚤 Strengthening Resilience in GBV Response

📬Upper Nile State- Fashoda

With the launch of our new boat, we are expanding access to GBV services, ensuring that women and girls in hard-to-reach areas can continue to find , , and .

🚣This boat represents resilience; our commitment to overcoming barriers and standing with communities even in the toughest conditions.

By reaching across the waters, we strengthen protection systems and make sure no survivor is left behind.✨

Because resilience is not just surviving the storm, it is building the means to thrive through it. 🌊✨

We thank our partners International Medical Corps for the support in making response accessible.

When it rains it pours...🌨 but we still reach you

When communities are cut off by floods and harsh terrain, access to lifesaving services is often the first casualty.

For survivors of gender-based violence, this isolation can mean silence, stigma, and lack of critical support. That’s why last mile delivery is not just a logistical challenge, it is a lifeline.

We are the sunshine in the storm🌦

With funding from South Sudan, we can reach to the most vulnerable communities despite the weather.

✨ Building Awareness, Building Change ✨
Where: Fashoda🇸🇸

This week, we conducted the !TogetherAwareness Phase training with our dedicated community activists.
The training focused on equipping activists with knowledge, skills, and tools to spark critical conversations about power, gender equality, and the prevention of violence against women and girls.

Through interactive sessions, role plays, and open dialogue, activists explored how to:
✅Challenge harmful social norms,
✅Raise awareness within their communities
✅Promote healthier, more respectful relationships.

We are inspired by the energy and commitment of the activists who are at the heart of this change. Their voices and actions will help create safer, more supportive communities where women and girls can thrive.

🌱✨ From garden to classroom, hope is being harvested.

In Gogrial East, Warrap State, school gardens are doing more than growing vegetables; they are keeping children in class, improving nutrition, and inspiring brighter futures. With every seed planted, children gain a meal and the strength and focus to learn, dream, and thrive.

🧠💪 Training is an investment in impact

In the humanitarian and development space, continuous learning is key to delivering safe, effective, and accountable programs.

With our partners UNFPA South Sudan
📌 This week, our teams have been part of several critical capacity-building sessions, including:

✅ EMAP (Engaging Men through Accountable Practice) – equipping staff with tools to shift harmful gender norms and engage men as allies in ending GBV.
✅ Safety Audit Training- strengthening our ability to assess and respond to protection risks in communities.
✅ MISP (Minimum Initial Service Package) for Reproductive Health– ensuring life-saving sexual and reproductive health services are prioritized in crisis settings.
✅ Quality of Care Training – reinforcing rights-based, survivor-centered approaches to service delivery.

Each session deepens our commitment to , , and especially for women and girls in fragile contexts. Because real change begins with informed, accountable action. 🌍💛

📌Accountability to Affected Populations.

We continue to build the capacity of our staff and communities through consistent trainings. Our recent refresher trainings on CBCM in Fangak and Renk through the support of UNFPA South Sudan

In humanitarian settings, accountability to affected populations is not just a principle—it is a necessity.💯
One of the most effective ways to promote accountability is through the establishment of Community-Based Complaints Mechanisms (CBCMs).
A is a , , and accessible system that allows community members—especially those affected by crisis—to raise concerns, report misconduct, or lodge complaints about the services they receive or the behavior of humanitarian staff.

Why CBCMs Matter
During emergencies or in conflict-affected areas, affected populations are often vulnerable and heavily reliant on humanitarian aid. They deserve to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. However, without a proper and channel, their voices may go unheard, and their rights may be violated.

CBCMs help:
🟠Prevent abuse and exploitation, especially Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA)
🟠Strengthen trust between communities and humanitarian actors
🟠Improve service delivery by highlighting gaps or challenges in programming
🟠Empower communities by giving them a voice in how aid is delivered

📚 Strengthening Protection Services Through Training 🤝

Still on our commitment to ensuring that frontline workers and community actors are well-equipped to respond effectively to protection concerns, we conducted two impactful capacity-building sessions in Mingkaman through the support of UNFPA South Sudan

👩🏽‍💼 Case Management Training
Aimed at caseworkers and protection staff, this training enhanced participants' skills in case management, with a strong focus on , , , and .

Participants explored real-life scenarios , using demonstrations and role-play, to get more insight into strengthening coordination pathways, and deepening their understanding of how to support survivors affected by protection risks — especially survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

🔁 CBCM Refresher Training:
We also facilitated a Community-Based Complaint Mechanism (CBCM) refresher session with community focal points and service providers.
The training was a reminder of the importance of , , and channels for communities to report complaints and freely give feedback — including misconduct and exploitation.

It also reinforced the guiding principles of accountability to affected populations (AAP), helping ensure that our humanitarian response remains transparent, ethical, and people-centered.

💬 These trainings build individual capacity and strengthen the protective environment for communities we serve. By investing in our teams and local structures, we’re making real progress in promoting dignity, trust, and protection for all.

👏🏽 A big thank you to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to safeguarding human rights in crisis settings!
