Pictoral: Youth-Talk Brings Communities Together!

On Oct 3rd, Lugara Shabab took consultations to Kadaro, uniting listeners from Jebel Lemon & Kadaro!

Auma Susan (Jebel Lemon) raised concerns over rising GBV & children dropping out of school for the streets. Sunday (Kadaro) praised local chiefs for restoring peace — "You can walk to town and back late without fear."

These conversations help shape mentorship where it's needed most.

On September 26, the Lugara Shabab team took a powerful step in Sherikat, holding a mentorship consultation to listen to the heartbeat of the community.

The results are already visible. In Gumbo Sherikat, a local mother shared a message of hope:
"Gumbo of today is different from the previous one. The gang activities have reduced, no cases of robberies, and women can easily sleep outside."

But our work isn't done. The team also visited Young Dream Academy, an inspiring initiative founded by a former gang member to give youth a second chance through sports and local games.

We heard a critical challenge: Cultural norms often deny girls the space to participate in these healing activities. As one youth member stated it, "We need mentorship programs for parents so these girls are able to engage."

Through Youth Talk3, we are committed to amplifying these voices and creating safe spaces for peacebuilding. Together, we are ensuring young people and the community can thrive peacefully.

YOUTH-TALK LUGARA SHABAB CONDUCTS MENTORSHIP CONSULTATION IN JONDORU

The Youth-Talk Lugara Shabab conducted a mentorship consultation in Jondoru on Saturday, 19th September, to address challenges facing young people in the area.

The Lugara Shabab team engaged with people of different intergenerational groups in Jondoru residential area to identify their challenges. A mother in Jondoru stressed that "children hardly listen to them, it would be okay if there are initiatives that help brings Youth together." she said. On the same note, a father seconded her, "Our youth are into a lot of negative initiatives like gangs activities," he added. Joseph Lomong, co-facilitator, told the gathering "this consultation would help us design the mentorship programme based on the challenges facing you the community in Jondoru."

The mentorship consultation aimed at identifying the challenges that young people are facing in the area. Having known the challenges, our team would be able to mentor the exact problem.
