UNDP Supports TJ in South Sudan
Success Story: Advancing Transitional Justice in South Sudan
The Youth Empowerment Foundation (YEF) proudly marks two impactful milestones in December 2025:
Community Outreach Session – Jebel Modi (Dec 16)
Through our Tailored Centric Dialogue, 40 diverse participants including survivors of conflict‑related sexual violence, internally displaced persons, returnees, persons with disabilities, and community leaders came together to explore the Victim Support Group (VSG) framework. This dialogue strengthened survivor resilience, confidentiality, and solidarity, while deepening public understanding of how VSGs can sustain victim‑centered transitional justice in line with Chapter V of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement (R‑ARCSS).
Radio Talk Show – Sama FM 99.3 (Dec 18)
Broadcasting across Juba County, we engaged communities in conversations on the newly established Compensation and Reparations Authority (CRA) and Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH). Expert voices and survivor‑centered discussions emphasized the importance of psychosocial support, awareness campaigns, and community engagement to ensure these institutions deliver justice, dignity, and reconciliation.
These initiatives reaffirm YEF’s commitment to survivor‑centered approaches, inclusivity, and sustainable peacebuilding.
YEF is gratefully acknowledge the support of the Peacebuilding Fund through UNDP, whose partnership makes these efforts possible.

Subhead: Soap-making initiative uplifts livelihoods, curbs GBV, and advances Transitional Justice goals under R-ARCSS.
“Narration Panel”
On November 13–14, 2025, the Youth Empowerment Foundation (YEF), with support from UNDP and the UN Peacebuilding Fund, implemented the Advanced Women’s Livelihoods through Soap-Making Initiative in Jebel Modi and Kapuri Residential Areas. The program equipped nearly 100 women with practical skills in liquid soap production, blending technical training with entrepreneurial insights to strengthen household income and resilience.
Among the participants was Lamaru Olivia, a 35-year-old resident of Jebel Modi. Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
The initiative attracted women across generations 40 female youth aged 18–35 and 58 women aged 36–55. Their collaboration fostered social cohesion, as younger and older women worked side by side, exchanging ideas and building solidarity.
By reducing economic vulnerability, the program helps curb gender-based violence linked to dependency, while advancing the goals of Transitional Justice under Chapter V of the R-ARCSS. As Olivia emphasized, “This step forward uplifts women’s livelihood status and ensures we are active agents of change in building a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan.”
