Young Voices Of South Sudan

Young Voices Of South Sudan Approximately a quarter of them are either orphans or from single parent families and the COVID-19 pandemic has hit them particularly hard.

The friends of two South Sudanese community schools, Queens Nursery and Primary School & Exodus International Academy are excited to invite you to take part in their fundraising project to raise money to go towards orphan school fees and school supplies In the aftermath of one of the most violent chapters of the South Sudanese civil war, a group of unlikely friends came together to create the foun

dations of a better life for the children of the world’s newest nation. Built by the hands of a community of local families and volunteer United Nations peacekeepers and with the support of a South Sudanese National Police Service officer, Queens Nursery and Primary School and Exodus International Academy were born by 2018. Located within the Weapons Free Zone that borders the second largest United Nations mission in the world, these two schools have grown to become a second home to nearly 900 students. In addition to the threat of malaria, yellow fever, civil war, and human rights violations, the majority of these children have only ever known conflict. You could be forgiven for thinking this was merely a sad story, but this is only the background to the first chapter of a tale of resilience, determination and an unwavering belief in love and peace. Now, for the first time, the children of the world’s newest nation have come together to share their best pieces of advice, in their book, ‘Young Voices of South Sudan’. Filled with quotes from interviews with the students of Queens and Exodus, the book will be sold until 10 December 2020. Information on book sales coming soon!
