Re: Genesis Mathematics Inferno 2026 - Marking Decision

Save the Education South Sudan Organization would like to address concerns raised regarding the marking of one learner from Venus Star High School during the Genesis Mathematics Inferno 2026 competition.

During marking, the rule was applied which states: "Multiple crossings may lead to loss of marks."
The markers found 4 numbers that had been crossed and corrected. In line with the rule, marks were not awarded for those 4 numbers.

After reviewing the matter, Save the Education South Sudan Organization feels the punishment was too heavy. We recommend that only 2 numbers be cancelled and the other 2 be awarded marks in the spirit of fairness to the learner.

We also wish to clarify that this decision was not targeted at any school. All answer scripts in Genesis Mathematics Inferno 2026 are marked using codes only. No student names or school names appear on the papers. Therefore, markers made the decision without knowing which learner or which school was involved.

We value every participating school and learner. We remain committed to providing a safe, transparent, and honest space for academic competitions.

On behalf of the markers and the organization, we sincerely apologize to Venus Star High School for any distress this may have caused.

Thank you to all schools, learners, teachers, and parents for supporting quality education in South Sudan.

Management,
SESSO
