Today, we proudly honor two important milestones in Suriname’s rich and diverse history: Indigenous Peoples Day and the 136th Commemoration of Javanese Immigration.

We pay tribute to the Indigenous communities, the first inhabitants of our land, whose culture, traditions, and resilience continue to enrich our nation. We also commemorate the arrival of the first Javanese immigrants in 1890, recognizing their invaluable contributions to Suriname’s development, culture, and identity.

As we celebrate our diversity, let us continue to promote unity, respect, and appreciation for the many cultures that make Suriname unique.

🏆 Celebrating Excellence in Leadership and Service 🦁 🏆

In recognition of his outstanding dedication to serving the community through innovative service projects and his exemplary leadership in leading Leo Club Kankantrie over the past two fiscal years, Leo Jair Joekoe was honored by our Sponsoring Lions Club, Lions Club Para with the Leo Club President Achievement Award FY 2025–2026.

This award marks a milestone in his Leo journey and reflects his commitment to service, leadership and the continued growth of our club.

Adding to this achievement, Leo Jair Joekoe has also recently been appointed as Leo Region Chairperson for Region 1 for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

We are proud of his accomplishments and wish him continued success as he embarks on this new chapter of service and leadership.
