MARDO Hosts Concern Worldwide Delegation in Baidoa:

Mandhere Relief and Development Organization welcomed a delegation from to its head office in Baidoa on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the operating environment in South West State, with particular focus on security, humanitarian access, staff safety, and the evolving humanitarian situation.

Both organizations reaffirmed the importance of coordination and partnership in supporting vulnerable communities with timely and principled humanitarian assistance.

MARDO Launches AARAN Project to Strengthen Community Resilience in El-Barde District:

, in partnership with , has officially launched the in El-Barde District, marking an important step toward strengthening community resilience, recovery, and sustainable development.

The project builds on the achievements of the , previously implemented by , with MARDO now leading the implementation of resilience-focused interventions under AARAN.

The launch brought together district authorities, government representatives, community leaders, women, youth, religious scholars, traditional elders, ACF representatives, and MARDO senior management. Discussions focused on the project's objectives, planned activities, and the importance of collaboration in achieving lasting impact for communities.

Through the AARAN Project, MARDO remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities, strengthening resilience, and advancing sustainable solutions across El-Barde District.

, in collaboration with , conducted a joint field visit to IDP camps in Hudur following reports of new arrivals.

The mission assessed the situation on the ground and identified the immediate needs of newly displaced households through direct engagement with affected communities.

Improving Health Outcomes Through Quality Primary Healthcare Services in Hudur District:

Through Mandhere Health Center in Hudur District, vulnerable communities continue to access essential healthcare services, including Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), immunization, outpatient consultations (OPD), nutrition screening, and the provision of essential medicines.

These services contribute to improved maternal and child health and increased access to quality healthcare for those most in need.

Implemented under the Programme, this intervention reflects the collaborative efforts of , (ACF), and the to strengthen access to essential health and nutrition services in Hudur District.

Strengthening Farmers' Market Access and Resilience

Mandere Relief and Development Organization (MARDO), through the Rural Livelihoods and Resilience Programme (RLRP), successfully conducted an Input and Output Marketing Training for Lead Farmers in partnership with , the , and .
The training enhanced participants' knowledge and skills in:
✅ Accessing quality agricultural inputs
✅ Understanding market prices and demand trends
✅ Product grading, packaging, and storage
✅ Collective marketing and negotiation techniques
✅ Record keeping for informed business decisions

Strengthening Frontline Capacity
to Combat Severe Acute Malnutrition in Hudur

As part of its continued commitment to strengthening frontline health and nutrition services, conducted a 5-day capacity-building training on Inpatient Care and the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) with complications for health and nutrition staff in Hudur District.

Following the training sessions, participants carried out a practical field visit to the Stabilization Center (SC) at Hudur Main Hospital, where they gained hands-on clinical exposure and practical experience in SC case management within a real healthcare setting.

The practical component further enhanced participants’ knowledge and skills in the treatment and care of children affected by severe acute malnutrition with medical complications, contributing to improved quality and delivery of lifesaving nutrition and health services for vulnerable communities.

This initiative was implemented by MARDO with support from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund

Strengthening community institutions through knowledge and capacity-building initiatives in Elberde District, Bakool Region.

Mandhere Relief and Development Organization (MARDO), in partnership with the World Food programme (WFP), conducted Governance and Financial Management training for farming cooperative members in Elberde District, Bakool Region under the Rural Livelihood and Resilience Program (RLRP).

The training focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of cooperative governance, financial management, record-keeping, transparency, and accountability through interactive group discussions and practical exercises.

Participants demonstrated strong engagement and active participation throughout the sessions, reflecting their commitment to building resilient and well-managed community cooperatives.

MARDO remains committed to empowering local communities with the skills and knowledge needed to promote sustainable livelihoods and long-term resilience.

Delivering Essential Health and Nutrition Services in Bakool Region:

Mandhere Relief and Development Organization (MARDO) , continues to provide integrated health and nutrition services to drought-affected communities in Hudur District.

With support from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF),MARDO is addressing urgent health and nutrition needs among women and children affected by drought and displacement.

Through mobile outreach and fixed facilities , MARDO health teams provide nutrition screening, medical consultations, delivery services,IYCF counselling, hygiene promotion, and health education.

Mothers and caregivers also participate in sessions on child feeding, maternal nutrition, and disease prevention, helping families make informed decisions to improve their wellbeing.

Together, we are strengthening the health, dignity, and resilience of mothers and children in Somalia.
