Reliable evidence is essential for turning durable solutions commitments into informed action.

Government and partners are advancing the Durable Solutions Progress (DSP) Survey as a government-led measurement framework and strengthening how its findings can inform policy, planning and programming.

The discussions are also looking at how DSP can work alongside other government evidence tools, including Facility Mapping.

While DSP provides household-level evidence on progress towards durable solutions, Facility Mapping provides information on the availability and accessibility of services and facilities.

Together, these tools can provide government with a stronger evidence base to identify gaps, understand where services are needed and prioritize policies and programmes that support durable solutions for displacement-affected communities.

Reliable data is critical to advancing durable solutions in Somalia.

This week, National Center for Rural Development and Durable Solutions (NCRDS), Somalia National Bureau of Statistics , IOM and partners are reviewing and validating the Durable Solutions Progress (DSP) Survey, a government-led framework designed to measure progress towards durable solutions and strengthen the evidence available to inform policy, planning and programming.

Led by NCRDS, co-led by SNBS and technically supported by IOM, the DSP provides a consistent and comparable approach to understanding progress across different locations and population groups.

By strengthening how progress is measured, the DSP can help government and partners better understand where solutions are advancing, where gaps remain and where action is needed.

Peace grows when communities come together. 🤝

IOM, Xarunta Qaran ee Tubsan, READO Somalia convened the second annual community dialogue in under the project, bringing together community leaders, elders, women, youth and persons with disabilities to discuss peace, mutual respect and social cohesion.

Through open conversations, cultural performances and shared experiences, participants reinforced a common message: lasting is built when every voice is heard.

Water security is critical to Baidoa’s resilience and future growth.

South West State, IOM, World Bank Group & partners discussed the proposed Baidoa Multipurpose Dam and Strategic Water Security Reservoir, exploring sustainable solutions to growing water needs and climate risks.

“This project is more critical than ever for strengthening preparedness, resilience and durable solutions,” said H.E. Abdinasir Abdi Arush, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, South West State.

By investing in sustainable water systems, partners can help communities better withstand climate shocks while creating stronger foundations for recovery, durable solutions and longer-term development in Baidoa.

Creating safer spaces starts with knowing how to prevent harm, recognize concerns and respond appropriately when they arise.

During a two-day workshop in , IOM PSEAH champions strengthened their knowledge and practical skills to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH).

Sessions focused on survivor-centred support, psychological first aid and measures to identify and reduce risks.

Participants also developed action plans to translate this learning into practice, helping promote dignity, protection and accountability across IOM interventions in .

For survivors of violence, the way they are received, listened to and supported can make a critical difference.

In Xudur, health workers, police, civil society and community representatives are strengthening their capacity to provide support that puts survivors’ safety, dignity, confidentiality and choices first.

Through the Nabadaynta Soomaaliya programme, the training is helping strengthen coordination and build the knowledge needed across institutions and communities so survivors can access safer, more appropriate support.

By strengthening the people and institutions that communities rely on, IOM is supporting more inclusive, rights-based and accountable systems that contribute to safer communities in Somalia.
