Today we amplify community feedback.

Through Climate Resilience and Adaptation Network - CRAN partnership with the Somali National Association of the Deaf-SONAD , hearing-impaired participants shared their reflections after our climate action training. Their insights highlight the need for accessible information in everyday community preparedness.
Together, participants and trainers developed the first Somali Sign Language Climate Glossary — a practical tool for inclusive climate literacy.
Climate action must be community-driven and accessible to all.

Climate Resilience and Adaptation Network - CRAN proudly contributed to the National Consultation on implementing education priorities under Somalia’s NAP. Our member, Mr. Kamal Abdulkadir , participated in the discussions to strengthen coordination and climate-resilient systems.

We are proud to announce the publication of the Climate Resilience and Adaptation Network (CRAN) 2025 Annual Report.

The report captures a year of Somali-led climate action across youth leadership, climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy and green jobs, disability-inclusive climate action, marine and coastal resilience, research and knowledge generation, and global climate diplomacy.

We invite partners, stakeholders, and communities to explore the impact, lessons, and pathways shaping a more climate-resilient Somalia.

On this same day last week, we proudly co-organised the Local Conference of Youth Somalia 2025 — for the 2nd year in a row!

The main event in Mogadishu followed earlier pre-events in 𝗝𝗼𝘄𝗵𝗮𝗿, 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗲 held earlier this month — capturing youth voices from across Somalia.

In Mogadishu over 150 young leaders united under the theme “Youth-led Climate Justice and Resilience,” shaping the National Youth Statement 2025 for a greener, inclusive Somalia.

Special thanks and appreciation to our incredible partners — , the MOECC - Wasaaradda Deegaanka iyo Isbeddelka Cimilada - JFS, UNICEF Somalia and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) — and all our co-organising organisations who made this milestone possible!

On 12th October 2025, we successfully held the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day — a vibrant event that united Somali youth to discuss climate resilience and adaptation.
The day also featured youth consultations on Somalia’s NDC 3.0 and National Adaptation Plan (NAP), amplifying young voices in shaping national climate priorities.

🌍✨ On September 25, 2025, during the International Week of Deaf People, we marked Deaf Rights in Crisis Day with a training on climate change awareness for the hearing-impaired community in Somalia.

This reflects our commitment to Inclusive Climate Action — ensuring deaf communities access vital climate knowledge and early warnings. We are also advancing Somali Sign Language as a pathway for climate communication and empowerment.

Together, we are building a resilient Somalia where every voice counts, and every sign matters. 🌱🤝

The hearing-impaired community has a powerful voice, yet too often it is unheard. This year, as we join the International Week of Deaf People 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to making Sign Language the full pathway for delivering climate information, early warnings, and opportunities for growth.

There can be no human rights without Sign Language rights. The Deaf community is not only part of the conversation but an active force in driving climate resilience and adaptation.

Together with our partners Alliance For Climate & Peace and Somali National Association of the Deaf-SONAD, we are building a climate-resilient Somalia where no one is left behind.
