OUR BACKGROUND

In April 2026, Zamzam Foundation was featured in the Somalia Health Cluster Bulletin, highlighting our contribution to integrated health, nutrition, and immunization services in underserved and hard to reach communities across Somalia. The feature recognized our efforts in expanding access to primary health care services, particularly for zero dose and under immunized children, displaced populations, and rural communities facing barriers to care. This recognition reflects Zamzam Foundationโ€™s growing visibility within national health coordination mechanisms and reinforces our role as a credible national partner delivering essential services in fragile and underserved settings. Through collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Health Cluster partners, and local communities, Zamzam Foundation continues to support routine immunization, outreach services, community mobilization, defaulter tracing, and integrated health and nutrition programs across Somalia.

In Mogadishu, 35 women have successfully completed a 3-month vocational training program focused on tailoring. The training was designed to equip participants with practical skills that can support long-term, sustainable livelihoods.

Throughout the program, the women received hands-on training in tailoring, learning both basic and advanced sewing techniques. At the end of the training, each participant was provided with a fully equipped sewing machine to help them start their own work and generate income.

This initiative, completed on 28 April 2026, is helping women become more financially independent, improve their household well-being, and contribute to stronger and more resilient communities.

The ECHO-SHIP consortium recently held a close-out workshop for ECHO-SHIP I, bringing together representatives from different partner organizations to reflect on key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.

As a consortium partner, Zamzam Foundation Somalia contributed to the delivery of integrated Health and Nutrition, WASH, and Food Security services in hard-to-reach areas within targeted districts, targeting the most vulnerable communities, including malnourished children.

We remain committed to sustaining and strengthening this important work.

In response to the severe drought, we implemented emergency water trucking to support vulnerable families living in displacement camps across Baidoa.

With water sources depleted, many families are left without access to safe drinking water. Through this life-saving intervention, we are working to meet urgent needs, reduce suffering, and protect the health and dignity of communities affected by the crisis.

๐ŸŒ World Health Day 2026 | Together for health. Stand with science

Today, Zamzam Foundation joins the global community in marking World Health Day by recognizing the dedication and impact of our frontline health workforce across Somalia.

Across more than 30 service delivery points, including mobile clinics reaching hard to access and underserved communities, over 200 frontline health workers continue to deliver essential, life saving services every day. Their work spans routine immunization, maternal and newborn care, integrated management of childhood illnesses, nutrition screening and treatment, and community based surveillance. In some of the most constrained settings, they remain the first and often only point of care for vulnerable populations.

On this World Health Day, we are not only celebrating their commitment, but also reinforcing the importance of integrated, community centered service delivery. Through coordinated facility and outreach activities, our teams are reaching children who have missed vaccinations, supporting pregnant women with critical care, and ensuring early detection and response to health risks at community level.

This day is a reminder that strong health systems are built on the resilience, skill, and dedication of frontline workers. Zamzam Foundation remains committed to supporting and strengthening this workforce to ensure equitable access to essential health services for all, especially in hard to reach areas.

Thank you to every frontline worker who continues to serve with commitment and courage.

In the blessed month of Ramadan, Zamzam Foundation reached 167,935 people across Somalia, bringing life-saving support to families struggling with drought and hardship.

We provided food packs sufficient for a family of six, hot meals, and Zakat Al-Fitr in cash and dry food, ensuring families could meet their basic needs. We also brought joy and celebration to disadvantaged children and orphans by distributing Eid clothes, so they could celebrate the holy month with dignity and happiness.

Your support has delivered hope, relief, and smiles to thousands. Together, we are standing with vulnerable communities and making a real difference.

Great news from our friends at Aruuri, the exciting new global crowdfunding platform launched during Ramadan with the ambitious aim "to impact one million lives in the Horn of Africa through predictable community-powered capital".

Aruuri's Adam Omar has told us: "Aruuri has really taken off. We reached the target to pay for Zamzam's first maternity clinic project on Aruuri in just 12 days, and we have also got a healthy amount of monthly donors."

Big thanks to those first few Aruuri donors who have enabled us to provide better antenatal and postnatal care for over 500 mothers at Zamzam Foundation 's Aawiye health centre in Banadir.
