🕊️ WARO Condolences and Call for Support

WARO extends its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the Baidoa District Hospital staff member who tragically lost his life during the recent incident.

The incident has also affected critical hospital facilities, including maternity and newborn care services, outpatient services, water facilities, and staff accommodation. These disruptions are creating significant barriers to the delivery of essential healthcare, particularly for pregnant women, mothers, and newborns.

WARO calls on humanitarian partners, donors, health

Communities are encouraged to identify vulnerable households, prepare early, share timely information, protect essential supplies, and report urgent needs. Early community action can reduce risks and help ensure that women, children, older people, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable families are not left behind. WARO Baardheere Mobile Health Teams Continue Reaching IDP Communities

WARO’s mobile health teams continue bringing essential healthcare closer to vulnerable families in Baardheere IDP sites, with priority support for pregnant and lactating mothers, children, and other vulnerable groups.

Services include antenatal and postnatal care, health consultations, essential medicines, health education, and referrals to further care. These outreach activities help identify urgent health needs early and connect families to timely support.

YURKUD: AN URGENT CALL FOR SHELTER AND PROTECTION

Yurkud, Gedo Region, is hosting approximately 3,000 displaced families who fled their homes following conflicts in Luuq. With heavy rains now affecting the area, families living in fragile makeshift shelters face increased risks of flooding, exposure and loss of shelter.

The immediate priority is emergency shelter assistance, including plastic sheeting, poles, ropes and other essential materials. Clean water, sanitation, food, healthcare and protection services are also urgently needed. IOM Somalia UNHCR Somalia WHO Somalia Every Pregnancy
WARO calls o humanitarian partners, donors, government authorities, Shelter and CCCM actors to prioritize Yurkud in the rainy-season response.

Yesterday, Wadani Relief Organization (WARO) participated in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education’s training on Safer, Greener and Inclusive School Infrastructure Guidelines in Jowhara hotel Mogadishu.

The training brought together the Ministry and education partners in Banadir, providing valuable knowledge on building safe, climate-resilient and inclusive learning environments for all children.
WARO appreciates the Ministry for the invitation and all education partners for their collaboration and commitment to strengthening education infrastructure and creating better learning environments across Somalia.
