On International Women’s Day (March 8, 2026), Hope University proudly continued its national legacy of service through the Hope Midwife Society (HMS) Mobile Clinic Outreach in Kaxda and Dharkiinley, including IDP camps in these districts.

As the first university to introduce higher education in Midwifery in Somalia, Hope University remains the mother of professional midwifery education in the country—training the professionals who safeguard the health of Somali mothers and children.

Today, HMS teams delivered vital services to the community, including:

• Prenatal checkups and laboratory testing for expecting mothers
• Postnatal and breastfeeding support
• Health screenings for children (0–5 years)
• Reproductive health consultations for women

Community leaders expressed deep appreciation for Hope University’s continued commitment to serving vulnerable families and communities in need.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Mogadishu campus of Hope University, the Hope Midwife Society (HMS) held a landmark meeting. As the first university in Somalia to offer a degree in Midwifery, this gathering held special significance.

The room was filled with leaders—our own esteemed alumni, who are now executives, heads of departments, and clinical leaders in hospitals and clinics across Mogadishu and the entire nation. These are the pioneers shaping the future of maternal and child health in Somalia.

The society convened to solidify the HMS vision, strategy, and ambitious plans for 2026. The energy, expertise, and shared commitment in the room were truly inspiring. The Hope Midwife Society is unique—built on a foundation of academic excellence, professional solidarity, and a profound mission to serve the nation.
