A Distinction in Leadership

Hope University is proud to announce that Eng. Mohamed Elmi, Deputy President & Provost, has been honored with the Somali Leadership Award (SLA) VIP Award for Excellence in Leadership.

The award recognizes his innovative vision, transformative leadership, and pioneering contribution to the advancement of higher education in Somalia.

At a time when Somalia’s higher education sector faces profound challenges and demands placed on universities have never been greater, leadership must extend beyond administration. It must possess vision, intellectual ambition, institutional courage, and the determination to raise the standards by which education is conceived, governed, and delivered.

Eng. Elmi’s vision for the advancement of higher education reflects precisely such an ambition. His efforts to strengthen collaboration across Somalia’s academic community, the National Commission for Higher Education (NCHE), international academic partners, and the wider community demonstrate a conviction that meaningful educational transformation cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires institutions to think beyond themselves, build bridges across disciplines and borders, and place knowledge at the service of national progress.

His leadership represents an ambition to contribute to the intellectual and institutional advancement of higher education in Somalia.

Hope University extends its warmest congratulations to Eng. Mohamed Elmi on this distinguished recognition.

Leadership with vision. Excellence with purpose. A future built through knowledge.
