Today in , UNDP Somalia, in partnership with the Hormuud Salaam Foundation, officially launched the implementation of the โAccelerating Socio-Economic Development in Somaliaโ project.
Co-funded by UNDP Somalia and the Hormuud Salaam Foundation, the initiative aims to enhance youth employability, support local business development and entrepreneurship, and promote innovation in the green and blue economiesโwith a strong emphasis on womenโs socio-economic empowerment.
The project inception workshop, held today to endorse the initiative and announce the start of implementation, brought together the Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Ahmed Hassan Yusuf; the Office of the Prime Minister Head of Skills Development and Employment Section Mr. Ismail Bashiir Ahmednur; the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Dr. Christopher Laker; and the CEO of the Hormuud Salaam Foundation Mr. Abdullahi Nur Osman. Additional participants included representatives from government counterparts, UNDP Somalia, Hormuud Telecom, Salaam Somali Bank, and Arkaan Innovation Hub.
This project reflects a localized Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) approach and marks an important step toward inclusive economic growthโexpanding opportunities for youth and women across Somalia.
