On 23 September 2025, the Somali Youth Parliament Council chairperson and other members have participated the program in Somalia for commemoration the International Day of Peace as part of the global campaign “Stand Up with the Children in War.” The event brought together key stake holder such as youth organisations, social activists, and community leaders to explore the best approaches to protect children who are in danger of civil conflicts and terrorism.
During the program, we reflected on the importance of protecting children affected by conflict and emphasized the shared responsibility of our community in promoting peace, safety, and hope for children. We also expressed a strong commitment to raising awareness and working collectively to support children’s rights and ensure their well-being.
The meeting helped us navigate child protection policies and mechanisms that exist in the country to deeply understand the gaps and tools needed to protect them. This is an essential step to ensure the safety of our children. It also demonstrated the readiness of our community to engage in peacebuilding efforts and to stand with children in war.
The participants finally underscored the significance of interfaith cooperation to safeguard the Somali children and those affected by war in our continent and the world.
The SYPC participats have extended their gratitude to ; program for organizing this event in Mogadishu, Somalia.
