We’re proud to share a new research publication featured in the Clinical Optometry Journal.

Titled “If I Wear Glasses, I Will Go Blind”: Misconceptions, Stigma, and Nonadherence to Spectacle Wear in Somalia’s Outpatient Eye Clinics, the study highlights the barriers, misconceptions, and social stigma surrounding spectacle wear among patients in Somalia, while emphasizing the importance of eye health awareness and adherence to vision care.

The publication was authored by Dr. Abdulsalam Ahmed Mohamed from the Department of Ophthalmology at Dr. Sumait Hospital, SIMAD University, with co-authors Abdullahi Abdirahman Omar and Fartun Abdullahi Hassan Orey.
