In light of the humanitarian and governance crisis caused by the prolonged civil war, a group of intellectuals came together in 2010 to form Bulsho Solutions Organization (BSO) a non-governmental organization which is committed to eradicating poverty, eradicating illiteracy, responding to humanitarian emergencies, strengthening peace, promoting democratic governance, and protecting children and wo
men. With it is headquarters in Mogadishu and branches in Galmudug State, Jubaland, Southwest, and Hirshabele, the organization reacted to humanitarian disasters, developed community needs-based initiatives, and collaborated with other groups with whom it shared a vision for social improvement to provide training and advice. The board of directors and the personnel of BSO are dedicated to bringing attention to the breaches of human rights that are occurring in Somalia and to working toward the development of viable solutions to these issues. They place a high priority on the protection of human rights, as well as the development of democracy and the maintenance of peace in the country. The short-term goal of the organization is to be able to address the challenges that are being faced throughout all of Somalia with a message of democracy, development, education, and peace. The organization's long-term goal is to be able to achieve its short-term goal with the support of civil society organizations and activists on a scale that is local, regional, and national. As a consequence of this, the BSO is an active civil society organization in Somalia that works in collaboration with other organizations and groups that share similar values and goals in order to accomplish significant goals that are in line with the organization's vision and purpose.
