The Somali Center for Climate Change (SCCC) is a youth-led climate resilience organization committed to advancing sustainable environmental solutions and strengthening community resilience across Somalia. hange effected somali people's lives specially the rural areas by droughts, floods and high temperature which sometimes causes diseases. Somali Center for Climate Change is a non-governmental forum that deals with all aspects of climate change and addresses all of these and many other issues related to climate change in the Somali regions technically and academically

Our goal is to save Somalia and the world from the effects of climate change and Mission is to contribute to the prevention of all causes of climate change and to address impacts to somali people, environment and livestock.

The Somali Center for Climate Change (SCCC) proudly participated in the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) consultation meeting on the preparation for COP31, organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia.

This important engagement brought together key stakeholders to align national priorities, strengthen coordination, and amplify the role of civil society in shaping Somalia’s position for the upcoming global climate negotiations.

SCCC remains committed to contributing evidence-based insights, promoting inclusive climate action, and ensuring that the voices of vulnerable communities are represented in international climate platforms.

Together, we move forward toward a resilient and sustainable future for Somalia. 🌍

Our Executive Director of the Somali Center for Climate Change, Abdulkadir Garad Ali, participated in the workshop on “The Roadmap for Implementing Educational Activities under Somalia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP)”, organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

During the session, he contributed valuable insights on advancing climate education through inclusive approaches, strengthening coordination between federal and state levels, and empowering youth-led organizations to play a key role in implementation. He also emphasized the importance of integrating gender equality, social inclusion, and conflict sensitivity across all education initiatives.

SCCC remains committed to supporting climate education, youth engagement, and building resilient communities across Somalia.

The Executive Director of the Somali Center for Climate Change proudly Mr. Abdulkadir Garad Ali participated today in the National Consultation Workshop on Identifying Implementation Arrangements for Education Activities under Somalia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
During the workshop, he contributed key recommendations on strengthening education-based climate adaptation through inclusive implementation, stronger federal–state coordination, youth and civil society engagement, and practical delivery models that reflect local realities. He also emphasized the importance of integrating gender equality, social inclusion, and conflict sensitivity across all education adaptation programs.
We appreciate the leadership of the organizers and the active participation of national and sub-national stakeholders. SCCC remains committed to supporting climate education, youth engagement, and community resilience across Somalia.

We are proud to share that our Acting Manager in Kismayo, Miss Sagal Abdifitah Abdullahi , represented the Somali Center for Climate Change at an important event on Climate Change Effects in East Africa held in Kismayo and organized by Ardaaga Organization.

The event brought together local stakeholders, civil society actors, and environmental advocates to discuss the growing impacts of climate change across East Africa, including droughts, floods, environmental degradation, and community resilience strategies.

Her participation reflects our continued commitment to engagement, collaboration, and climate awareness at both local and regional levels. We appreciate the organizers for creating this valuable platform for dialogue and action.

A historic Move: Somalia Parliament Approves Somalia National Meteorological Agency (SNMA)a move aimed at enhancing weather monitoring, forecasting, and climate-related services nationwide.

Last year, while speaking at the Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud with the world a commitment to establish a National Meteorological and Climate Service Agency.

The President’s global commitment to the international community came to fruition today, after the House of People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia officially approved the National Meteorological and Climate Service Agency law, demonstrating the realization of the nation’s voice in the international community.

📢 Official Appointment Announcement Somali Center for Climate Change(SCCC).

The Somali Center for Climate Change (SCCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sagal Abdifitah Abdullahi as the Acting Branch Manager of SCCC – Kismaio.

This appointment has been made by the Executive Director of SCCC, in recognition of Ms. Sagal Abdifitah’s professionalism, leadership potential, and commitment to advancing climate action and community engagement in Jubaland.

In her role as Acting Branch Manager, Ms. Sagal will oversee the coordination and implementation of SCCC programs in Kismayo, strengthen partnerships with local stakeholders, and support community-led climate resilience initiatives.

We are confident that Ms. Sagal Abdifitah will bring dedication, integrity, and fresh energy to this role, contributing meaningfully to SCCC’s mission of promoting climate justice, environmental protection, and sustainable development in Somalia.
