“Before joining Human Rights Club (HRC) and participating in the human rights training, I had limited knowledge of human rights and lacked the confidence to speak up for my own rights, and those of women and girls” — Said Amina, Secondary School Student in Cadaado.

“Now, I actively raise awareness of my fellows students to promote a safe, inclusive and rights-respecting learning environment” she added.

Amina is a member of our Human Rights Club (HRC) in Cadaado district of Galmudug State and following the human rights training, she and her fellow club members have taken an advocate role, conducting outreach activities within their schools and the wider communities, promoting values for dignity, respect and inclusion.🤝

In partnership with United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), YECO Somalia 🇸🇴 established human rights clubs (HRCs) in Cadaado district, provided human rights training of trainers (ToT) and supported outreach activities carried out by the club members.🌎

The discussion focused on the current climate crisis, its environmental and socio-economic impacts, and the significance of youth-led climate action.

Building on ongoing efforts, participants explored actionable steps and ways to strengthen youth engagement in locally led climate action. 🌱
