We were honored to participate in the ECOSOCC Civil Society Pre-Summit in Addis Ababa, advancing engagement on the 2026 AU Theme of the Year: Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve Agenda 2063.

The discussions reinforced the urgent reality that over 400 million Africans lack safe drinking water and 700 million lack adequate sanitation. Leaders called for climate-resilient water governance, community-driven solutions, gender-responsive approaches, innovation, and stronger partnerships to move from policies to pipes.

We remain committed to supporting collective action that ensures water security and safe sanitation for all leaving no one behind.

Our Country Director for Ethiopia, Mr. Eskindir Birhanu Kibret is engaging with African civil society leaders, policymakers, and partners to advance sustainable water security, dignified sanitation, and the goals of Agenda 2063.

That’s a wrap on a weekend full of energy

Over 500 young environmental leaders from 70+ countries gathered in Nairobi for the Global Youth Environment Assembly ( ), a global forum ensuring that young people’s voices are included, recognized, and heard in environmental decision-making.

On 7 December, the Global Youth Declaration on the Environment, a collective statement representing the priorities and demands of youth worldwide, will be launched and presented to world leaders at .
