Phase II of the Disaster Volunteers Network (DVN) Training has officially and successfully concluded. The training was facilitated by SWSC, following the successful completion of Phase I, which was supported by UNDP United Nations Development Programme - UNDP.
The training significantly enhanced the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of disaster volunteers in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, prevention, and emergency response, enabling them to play a vital role in protecting and supporting their communities during emergencies.
During the closing ceremony, Green Youth Union GYU officially received the equipment and operational materials designated to support the Disaster Volunteers Committee in carrying out its responsibilities effectively and responding to emergency situations. The handover ceremony was witnessed by the Ministry of Disaster Management Jubbaland.
GYU extends its sincere appreciation to UNDP, SWSC, and the Ministry of Disaster Management Jubbaland for their continued support, partnership, and commitment to strengthening the capacity of Somali disaster volunteers. We look forward to continued collaboration in building safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready communities.
