TOSCO incollaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Road Development, held a consultative meeting on the development of a unified curriculum for driving schools in Hargeisa.

The meeting discussed ways to standardize driver training and strengthen the capacity of driving schools as part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve driver competence and reduce road accidents caused by poor driving skills.

TOSCO conducted a training for 20 officers from the Somaliland Traffic Police Department on road traffic accident investigation and proper reporting. The training aimed to strengthen officers’ capacity to accurately investigate crashes and produce reliable reports to support improved road safety and enforcement.

TOSCO facilitated and coordinated a vital road safety dialogue last night at the Hargeisa Debates venue.

The session addressed the growing challenge of road traffic accidents in Somaliland and brought together key stakeholders, including the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation and Road Development, representatives from the Traffic Police, and other road safety experts.

Discussions focused on practical, policy-oriented approaches and actionable solutions to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents nationwide.

This project was funded by the FCDO through the Chevening Alumni Programme Fund.
