Geological field study in Stratigraphy and Sediments.
A Study Tour from Hargeisa to Surio Malableh by Golis University.
Objectives (Student Fieldwork Activities)
1. Sampling and Sample Preparation
Students collected representative rock and sediment samples from different locations along the field route. They carefully labeled the samples, recorded field data, and prepared them for further laboratory analysis.
2. Geological Mapping
Students observed and recorded geological features in the field, including rock types, structures, and boundaries. They used basic mapping techniques to produce a simple geological map of the study area.
3. Lithological Study
Students identified and described the physical characteristics of rocks, such as color, texture, grain size, and mineral composition, in order to classify the different lithologies present in the area.
4. Analysis of Stratigraphy and Sediments
Students examined the arrangement and sequence of rock layers (stratigraphy) and interpreted depositional environments based on sediment characteristics and structures.

Final Step:
After completing the fieldwork, the students prepared a detailed field report at the university, compiling their observations, data, maps, and interpretations.
