Improving Mental Health Services

We successfully conducted a one-day training for 30 healthcare professionals from Hargeisa Group Hospital (HGH), aimed at strengthening mental health service delivery.

Key focus areas included:
• Patient referral systems
• Integration of mental health into primary healthcare
• Outreach activities and home visits
• Counselling for mental well-being and ongoing support

GAVO participated in a Mental Health Stakeholders Meeting organized by the Ministry of Health, bringing together local NGOs, international partners, and government officials to discuss mental health priorities, strengthen collaboration, and improve service delivery.

GAVO successfully conducted a Mental Health and Human Rights Awareness events at Ayaha IDP Camp in Hargeisa. The event promoted mental well-being, human rights awareness.

The General Assistance and Volunteers Organization (GAVO) conducted a mental health and human rights training for elders and religious leaders in Hargeisa. The training aimed to strengthen community awareness on mental health, promote human rights, and encourage the important role of elders and religious leaders in supporting social well-being and peaceful communities.

Thanks to the GAVO team, PSR Lääkärin sosiaalinen vastuu ry - LSV , and the Ministry of Health for their support. Together, we are helping people to help themselves.

The General Assistance and Volunteers Organization (GAVO) successfully organized and conducted two-day SRHR workshops in the each districts of Ainaba and Odweyne with community members from both areas.
Thank the GAVO team for their dedication and hard work in supporting community awareness and development.
