SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their post-conflict societies into prosperity. Through this page you will learn more about our flagship project in SOMALILAND. The LEAD Programme's core objective is to reduce irregular economic migration and radicalization of young people and to contribute to the stability of the region. To achieve this stability, the LEAD program promotes and supports entrepreneurial activity amongst youth. The programme focuses on establishing new businesses (30%) and expanding established SMEs (70%) in the hopes of creating new jobs for youth. We develop business plans, provide entrepreneurship, soft skills, and technical skills training, and provide individual coaching in order to support our entrepreneurs and help them succeed. Additionally, the LEAD program also has an education component.
LEAD develops modules on entrepreneurship that are then taught to university students from various departments. The program also seeks to promote apprenticeship and internship programs within universities which will enable students to gain work experience prior or straight after graduation. We also run summer school programs on entrepreneurship to further expose youth to the entrepreneurial opportunities available to them. To achieve the program’s aims, SPARK works with an alliance of experienced partners. The alliance is formed with Shaqodoon in Somaliland.
