VEDPA is the Association for Disabled Persons, established by a group of dedicated professionals with extensive experience in disability issues. And addressing the challenges surrounding disability.

Operating within Somaliland, VEDPA is a local organization, serving vulnerable people and strongly advocating for the rights and development of vulnerable communities.

Mission and Focus Areas
VEDPA's mission centers on humanitarian efforts, specifically targeting marginalized groups within society. The organization actively engages in developmental initiatives and political advocacy to enhance the livelihoods of these disadvantaged communities. VEDPA prioritizes advocacy for vulnerable societal members, including individuals with disabilities, women, children, and minority groups.

Objectives of VEDPA
The principal objectives of VEDPA include:

1. Improvement of Livelihoods: VEDPA aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups by addressing and minimizing the challenges they encounter.

2. Public Awareness and Advocacy: A critical objective is to raise public awareness regarding the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities, as well as the rights of children, youth, and women. This includes a focus on broader human rights issues affecting these groups.

The consultation meeting between the Government of Somaliland and the umbrella of international organizations, local of government agencies operating in Somaliland has held a meeting in the city of Hargreysa.

The purpose of this meeting was to strengthen the cooperation between the Government of Somaliland and the umbrella of international, local and government organizations.

The conference organized by the Ministry of Planning and National Development's Coordinating Department was officially opened by the Minister of Planning and National Development, Dr Ahmed Buhane.

Today we participated in a large meeting organized by the SONSAF umbrella in collaboration with the Somaliland National Disability Forum, SNDF.

VEDPA is one of the member organizations of the SNDF Disability Umbrella of Somaliland.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the various challenges faced by people with special needs. It has been specially analyzed how to make it easier for people with special needs to participate in the country's elections, so that they have representatives in the national assemblies, and their needs and voices reach the national authorities.
