Meeting of the People and the Puntland Government

On June 22nd, 2024, Daryeel Agro-Vet Development Solutions (DADS) had the pleasure of attending the meeting between the people of Puntland and the Puntland government, held in Garowe. Our Administrative Manager, Abdifah Saleman Muse, represented DADS at the event.

The meeting was an important platform for the government to share its five-year plan with the public and allow them to ask questions and hold the government accountable.

During the meeting, the government outlined its key priorities and initiatives in areas such as livestock production, agricultural development, environmental protection, and fisheries development. This was a valuable opportunity for stakeholders like DADS to engage directly with the relevant government ministries and advocate for the needs and concerns of our sectors.

Overall, the meeting was a positive step towards greater transparency and citizen engagement in the governance of Puntland. DADS appreciates the government's willingness to openly discuss its plans and address the questions and feedback from the people. As the world celebrates World Camel Day on June 22nd, 2024, we reflect on the profound importance of the camel to the Somali people. The camel is truly a cornerstone of Somani culture and livelihoods, woven inextricably into the fabric of this nation.

Somalis have long extolled the virtues of the camel in their rich oral traditions. These resilient, adaptable animals are rightly celebrated for their practical utility - providing milk, meat, and vital transportation across Somalia's rugged terrain. But the camel's significance extends far beyond its material benefits.

Camels hold deep cultural and social value for Somalis. They are intricately tied to traditional practices and customs that have sustained Somali communities for generations. The payment of bridewealth and compensation for injured parties in tribal disputes - cornerstones of Somali social relations - frequently involve the exchange of camels.
