WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY 2026

Today, Sanaag Social Workers Organization (SSWO) joins the global community in commemorating World Humanitarian Day, a day to honor all those who serve humanity and stand alongside people affected by conflict, displacement, poverty, and emergencies.

We remember and honor humanitarian workers who have dedicated their lives to serving others, including those who have lost their lives while carrying out their humanitarian duties.

SSWO believes that humanitarian action is not only about providing assistance; it is about protecting life, dignity, rights, and hope, particularly for women, children, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable communities.

We call for greater protection of those who protect and support others, safe and equitable access to essential services for vulnerable people, and collective efforts to turn humanitarian concerns into action, solidarity, and accountability.

Let us protect those who protect others.
Let us stand with those who serve our communities.
Let us turn humanitarian values into action.

Today, 12 August, Sanaag Social Workers Organization (SSWO) joins the global community in commemorating International Youth Day, reaffirming the vital role young people play in building peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous communities.

Young people live in different circumstances and face different challenges, yet they share common aspirations: quality education, decent employment opportunities, peace, justice, dignity, and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their lives and future.

SSWO believes that young people are not only leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today. They deserve meaningful opportunities to participate in decision-making, develop their skills and creativity, and contribute to solutions that address the challenges facing their communities.

The youth of Sanaag have the talent, vision, and potential to create meaningful change. What they need is opportunity, investment, and trust.

SSWO’s Commitment to Youth

SSWO is committed to strengthening opportunities for young people to:

* Have their voices heard and meaningfully considered;
* Develop their skills, creativity, and leadership potential;
* Participate in decisions that affect their lives and communities; and
* Contribute to peace, development, and positive social change.

On this International Youth Day, SSWO reaffirms its commitment to supporting young people, strengthening their voices, and creating meaningful pathways for their participation and leadership.

Happy International Youth Day 2026!
Empowering Communities. Protecting Rights. Strengthening Youth Voices.

“When we talk about social cohesion, the most important thing is that we ask ourselves: how can we strengthen our community? More importantly, how can we connect and unite the younger generation with the elders?”
Ahmed Mohamoud, Dean of Social Work at Golis University.
