Story

The prevailing plight of the poor Somalis and their craving for humanitarian support, peace and stability as the result of the state collapse in 1991 and the subsequent of protracted bloody conflicts among the communities particularly, in southern regions of Somalia had necessitated the formation of the Centre for Research and Integrated Development (CERID) in 2004 by cohort of Somali professionals and intellectuals. Since the prolonged conflicts and violence had destroyed the public infrastructures and public services, the need of a home-grown lobby group who can play a vital role for reviving the public services for the Somali communities in the post-conflict recovery and development efforts. CERID, being a social-oriented research is a non-governmental organization working for the welfare of the Somali people in the emergency situations and post-conflict recovery and developmental programs. CERID is fully committed to promoting community self-reliance for recovery and development through research-based initiatives. CERID’s thematic focus programs include: Natural Resource Management & livelihoods, Education services, Peace Building & Governance, and Social Research Services. CERID endeavors to contribute to the overall communities at post-conflict recovery and development. Currently, CERID operates in the South-Central regions of Somalia with its head office in Beled-Hawa district, Gedo region.
