There is a great need for a new social centre, as now being planned. Preparations have been made and we have now started building the new centre. Papers and registrations are approved. Skills for a better livelihood, women:
Adult education will promote poverty eradication. In addition to general education, there will be tuition in special skills at the centre. Those may be sewing skills, handling sewing machines etc. Products may be sold at the local marked. Some products may also be sent to be sold in special shops in Oslo. Other skills may imply food-making, bakery, elementary nursery education and also forest-planting in desert-areas. Activities aimed at developing special skills for women will be further discussed and implemented. Skills for better livelihood, children and youth:
The children in the orphanage will be given formal education in government or private schools. When they grow up, Urtehagen International will help to provide them with higher education, and/or training in specific skills related to their abilities, interests and local needs. Training may be given in building skills, car mechanics, carpentry, sewing and other production activities, etc. This will be to the benefit of each child/youth, and also designed to fight poverty in the society concerned. Day-care centre for disabled children;
Disabled children, like all children, have important rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Disabled children have the human right to be included in their local community and to do the kinds of things that non-disabled children do. They have the right to support to help them do this.
