20 July 2025 – Dhahar District: Agency for Development and Environmental Care (ADEC) acknowledges the recent conflict in Dhahar District, where clashes on 14 July 2025 resulted deaths and injuries. The situation has now stabilized, following the mediation efforts by district elders and Local authorities’ government delegates who helped de-escalate the violence.
However, the humanitarian consequences remain critical.
Humanitarian Impact & Food Security Concerns:
• Over 7,000 people (1,100 household) were displaced due to the clashes.
• While some families are attempting to return to their homes, the reintegration process is hindered by the absence of assistance, stable income sources, and basic services. Additionally, fear of renewed violence continues to deter many from returning with confidence.
• The region is witnessing increased food insecurity, especially among poor and displaced households, who were already recovering from prolonged drought.
• Access to food, safe water, health services, and shelter remains limited.
• ADEC’s humanitarian operations in Dhahar district were suspended in March 2025 due to lack of resource from our partners.
• On 15 July 2025, ADEC formally shared an alert with its donor partners, highlighting the urgent food and economic crisis, ongoing displacements, and humanitarian needs affecting families in Dhahar.
ADEC Calls for Urgent Action:
• Immediate food and cash assistance for displaced and returning families
• Enable joint inter-agency assessments
• Support livelihood recovery and resilience-building
