*SERO Participates in Stakeholder Information-Sharing Meeting in Xuddur*
*Xuddur, Bakool – 1 September 2026*

The Somali Empowerment and Relief Organization (SERO) participated in an information-sharing and coordination meeting held in Xuddur, bringing together representatives of the Bakool Regional Administration, Xuddur District Administration, and humanitarian and development organizations operating across Bakool Region, particularly in Xuddur District.

The meeting provided an important platform for stakeholders to exchange information, strengthen coordination, and enhance collaboration between local authorities and humanitarian and development partners working to support communities in the region.
Key discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination, improving information sharing, addressing community needs, and accelerating the delivery of essential services and development initiatives. Participants also discussed existing challenges affecting humanitarian and development activities and explored ways to improve collaboration and ensure that interventions remain responsive to the priorities and needs of local communities.
SERO welcomed the opportunity to participate in this important coordination forum and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local authorities, communities, humanitarian actors, and development partners to contribute to effective, inclusive, and sustainable humanitarian and development efforts in Bakool and across Somalia.

*Sero Participates in the Launch of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign in Baidoa*

The Minister of the Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights of South West State, Hon. Shamso Mohamed Yarow, today launched the 16 Days of Activism Campaign in Baidoa, aimed at advocating for the elimination of violence against women and girls.
This year’s campaign is being observed under the theme:
“End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.”
The well-organized opening ceremony was attended by Ministers, Members of Parliament from South West State, women’s groups, youth, and various distinguished guests.
Minister Shamso Mohamed Yarow emphasized the forms of violence faced by women, underlining the government’s strong commitment to protecting their rights and ensuring community safety.
Sero also took part in this significant event, gaining valuable knowledge on gender rights, digital safety, and effective strategies for preventing and responding to gender-based violence. Sero expressed appreciation for the awareness raised and reaffirmed support for initiatives that advance the rights, safety, and empowerment of women and girls across the region.

SERO Actively Participates in the Humanitarian Coordination Meeting in Baidoa

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of South West State, Hon. Abdinaasir Abdi Aruush, chaired a high-level coordination meeting with humanitarian organizations at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baidoa.

The meeting brought together representatives from UN agencies, especially UNOCHA, along with humanitarian partners working across South West State. Discussions focused on preparedness for the expected worsening humanitarian situation in the coming months and the need for stronger joint action.

SERO was officially invited and took an active role in the discussions, sharing valuable insights and reaffirming its commitment to supporting effective humanitarian coordination and community-centered response efforts in South West State.

The Minister called on all organizations to strengthen collaboration with the government to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact for vulnerable communities.

🌍 SERO at FSNAU Food Security Meeting 🌍

Somali Empowerment and Relief Organisation (SERO) actively participated in the recent FSNAU meeting focused on food security and the latest analysis for the Bay, Bakool, and Lower Shabelle regions.

We were honored to take part in this important meeting alongside FSNAU and other key stakeholders. Our participation reflects SERO’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, sharing ground-level insights, and contributing to evidence-based responses.

Representing the organization, Mohamed Abdirauf Salad reaffirmed SERO’s commitment to supporting the development of the South West State (KGS). He highlighted that the organization is dedicated to working inclusively with communities from all walks of life to advance progress and wellbeing.

🌍 SERO Joins Emergency Meeting at the Ministry of Health on Outbreak Response in Baidoa

The Ministry of Health of South West State convened an urgent meeting to discuss prevention and response strategies against recent outbreaks of measles, cholera, and whooping cough that have been reported across several districts. The meeting brought together government officials, health professionals, humanitarian partners, and experts to collectively address the rising public health concern.
A detailed report was presented on the scale of the outbreaks, the number of affected cases, and the response measures already underway. Participants worked together to shape an emergency plan that prioritizes community protection, rapid response, and strong coordination.
Speaking during the session, Director General Dr. Ibrahim Soomow underscored the urgency of taking immediate and coordinated action, calling on all partners to strengthen their contributions. He emphasized that “true collaboration is the foundation for safeguarding communities and ensuring sustainable health security.”
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to intensify community awareness, expand life-saving health services, and accelerate collaboration between the Ministry of Health and partners in order to contain the outbreaks and protect vulnerable populations.

Bakool Region Multi-Sector Needs Assessment Successfully Completed
The Somali Empowerment and Relief Organisation (SERO) has successfully completed a comprehensive multi-sector needs assessment at the household level across key districts in the Bakool region — including Hudur, Waajid, and El Barde. And Yeed Aato
