Youth In Action Baidoa-YIA was delighted to participate in a meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the government, private water companies, and supporting agencies to ensure that communities have access to sufficient clean water and that social services are of high quality and meet community needs.

Participants included local NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, and private water service providers. The event was officially opened by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the South West State government, Hon. Iimaan Cali Cabdi, accompanied by the Ministers of Planning, Environment, and Livestock.

The meeting discussed the stakeholders’ engagement workshop for the legalization of the public–private partnership (PPP) agreement for bulk water management in South West State. The Ministry received support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the African Development Bank, with legal experts leading discussions on the legal aspects of water management.
