As part of the BIOCLIMATE Finance project, ENDA ENERGIE, in partnership with Germanwatch and with the support of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), organized two climate restitution and planning workshops in Kolda and Médina Yoro Foulah.
These meetings marked an important step in the process of developing Territorial Climate and Energy Plans (PCET) for the targeted inter-municipalities in Casamance. They brought together local authorities, decentralized technical services, community-based organizations, women, youth, and several local stakeholders around climate-related issues affecting the territories.
Over several days, participants discussed the results of climate vulnerability assessments and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories, while identifying the main environmental challenges faced by the municipalities. The participatory work also made it possible to jointly develop and prioritize concrete mitigation and adaptation actions tailored to local realities.
Through this collaborative dynamic, local actors reaffirmed their commitment to building more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable territories, placing communities at the center of climate action.
ENDA ENERGIE thanks the Regional Development Agencies (ARD) of Kolda, Sédhiou, and Ziguinchor, the local authorities, technical services, and all participants for their strong engagement and the quality of contributions throughout the workshops.
